I am always a fan of Terry Goodkind; this book is no exception. I am ecstatic to again be on a journey with Kahlan and Richard. True to form, the storyline is fantastic and full of stimulating philosophical undertones. The character development is superb. A definite must read! I couldn't put it down and can't wait for the next in the series.
I've listened to some truly great audiobooks, and Chima's work is at the top. I loved both the Demon King series and her Heir series. I was excited when I heard she was continuing with the Heirs and can't wait to read the next.
I fell in love quickly with both of the main characters. Jonah the misunderstood assassin with a heart of gold. And Emma, the talented misfit with spunk. Wonderful character development and interaction. It was nice to see familiar characters weaved throughout the story, even though they were not the focal point this time around.
I was enthralled with the image of Jonah captivated the first time he heard Emma play. It was a magical, ethereal moment. It makes me smile just thinking of it.
I could barely put this one down and nearly did it all in one sitting.
Marie Lu did a great job with character development and story line. Her stars were both relatable and likable; they interacted well with one another. The plot line was captivating. There were surprises along the way, but they added depth, not disappointment. In the post-apocalyptic science fiction category, I would put these treasures right below The Hunger Games, which is awesome.
I don't think many who enjoyed the first two books will appreciate this one.
It could have had a better ending most obviously, but it also could have had a better developed plot line: one that was more consistent with the first two books. I loved the first two books and couldn't wait for the third. I am massively disappointed. If you have read the first two books, expect a huge let down in this one. If you haven't read the first two books, don't pick them up; the third makes the trilogy a complete waste.
When I think of favorite scenes, my mind goes immediately to the first two books; I can think of none from Allegiant.
Terrible. This book is only getting a 2 off the strength of the first two books and how much I loved some of the characters.
I was pleasantly surprised by this book series. It has an entertaining storyline, with a strong feminine heroine. I love shifter/supernatural books. It seems that sometimes adult series in this genre focus so much on the romance/sex that they lose track of the most important aspect of storytelling. Not true for this series. It has a good blend. And I found myself appreciating and respecting the main character, although I'm not generally a fan of characters with her attributes. That takes talent. :)
I'm generally a fan of philosophy type books, and I always prefer to read before I watch. The movie previews for this title looked great, so I thought I would listen to the book. I was sorely disappointed. The story was slow, which would have been okay if it eventually took me somewhere. I couldn't wait for the end; not because I was excited for the ending; I was excited it was over, and I could move on to something else.
I was looking for a great shifter / supernatural romance. This one was only mediocre. The story lines throughout the series were okay, but very predictable. And the romance scenes... I was like seriously? I'm more about the story than the sex, so perhaps this series just wasn't a good selection for me.
