The book was worth about 4 stars to me. It was a good book, worth reading, but I knocked another star off because I would have rather read it than listen to this audiobook... the full cast narration is unnecessary and the occasional musical interludes are just silly. (I do not need to hear a little musical chord every time Katsa climbs on her horse and I do not need to listen to happy musical notes when someone smiles at Katsa.) I wish that it was just one solid female narrator without all the extra stuff so that I could have taken this book a little more seriously.
The first quarter of this book was hard to listen to. The character is so unrelatably mean! However, this just makes the book even more spectacular and touching when she shows her true colors and transforms over the remainder of the book. The narration is good and the story is very unique and special. It definitely makes you feel good all over.
I found this book to be incredibly boring and the characters not at ALL relatable. Miss Pettigrew has luck on her side, but no actual brain cells to speak of, which makes for a frustrating read/listen. The narrator, however, is great and keeps you feeling like you are listening to something much more enjoyable than you actually are.
I loved this book! The two distinct writing styles of the two very different Will Graysons (and the two very different narrators) are what make the book. It is laugh out loud funny and the voices of all the characters are perfect. (The gay friend, Tiny, is absolutely delightful to listen to.) I recommend this book, and I recommend it even more on Audiobook, as listening to it really brings the characters to life.
While it may be a young adult book, I found that it is the type of book that can appeal to any older age group. It's an easy read, but it pulls you in and leaves a distinct impression. Suzanne Collins has an amazing writing style that makes the Capitol and Districts themselves become characters in the book with distinct personalities... it's fascinating, as well as eerie at times. I listened to this book while taking an 8 hour drive and found myself taking the long way around my destination just to listen to more. And to top it all off, the narrator is perfect for the tone of the book.
