  • Celebrity in Death: In Death, Book 34

    • UNABRIDGED (13 hrs and 54 mins)
    • By J. D. Robb
    • Narrated By Susan Ericksen
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Her career in homicide has taken her into the darkest depths of New York City’s underground - and sometimes Lieutenant Eve Dallas feels more comfortable in those kinds of places than in the high-rise, high-society world of her billionaire husband, Roarke. But while she’s no party girl, she’s managing to have a reasonably good time at the celebrity-packed bash celebrating the debut of The Icove Agenda. This time it’s Eve, not Roarke, who’s a guest of honor, since the film is based on one of her famous cases. Her partner, Peabody, is practically giddy....

Amy Huber says: "Susan Ericksen is amazing!"
What disappointed you about Celebrity in Death?

Same great characters, wonderfully read, but the storyline was so boring and slow, I only listened because I love the series. It was like reading the same page over and watching a soap opera, and it taking 2 weeks for somebody to finish a sentence!!!

What could J. D. Robb have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

feed the story some spinach, and wake it up!

What about Susan Ericksen’s performance did you like?

    Excellent as always

What character would you cut from Celebrity in Death?

  • Feather on the Moon

    • UNABRIDGED (8 hrs and 23 mins)
    • By Phyllis A. Whitney
    • Narrated By Anna Fields

Jennifer still vividly remembers the day when, momentarily distracted, she left her three-year-old daughter, Debbie, unattended in a grocery cart. When she turned back, the child had vanished. For seven years, there had been no sign of Debbie. Then one day, Jennifer receives a mysterious phone call from the wealthy Corinthia Arles, claiming that she has found her daughter.

    Jackie says: "GOOD, BUT AGGRAVATING"

It was a good little story, but since it seemed modern, I kept wanted to scream, GET A DNA TEST PEOPLE!!! LOL!

  • Say Goodbye

    • UNABRIDGED (13 hrs and 11 mins)
    • By Lisa Gardner
    • Narrated By Ann Marie Lee, Lincoln Hoppe

For Kimberly Quincy, FBI Special Agent, it all starts with a pregnant hooker. The story Delilah Rose tells Kimberly about her johns is too horrifying to be true; but prostitutes are disappearing, one by one, with no explanation, and no one but Kimberly seems to care.

KSK says: "Not for the faint of heart"

  • The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo: The Millennium Trilogy, Book 1

    • UNABRIDGED (16 hrs and 19 mins)
    • By Stieg Larsson
    • Narrated By Simon Vance
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Why we think it’s a great listen: How do you one-up a book that’s already a global literary phenomenon? Hire Simon Vance to (flawlessly) interpret the loves, lives, and murders of Sweden’s cold and secret-filled world. A spellbinding amalgam of murder mystery, family saga, love story, and financial intrigue. It's about the disappearance 40 years ago of Harriet Vanger, a young scion of one of the wealthiest families in Sweden.

Pamela Murphy says: "COULD NOT PUT IT DOWN"
    "Much to do about nothing..."

I was so disappointed with this read, I couldn't finish it. I tried to force myself but it was too painfully overwritten, and I lost interest and focus completely.

  • The Neighbor: A Detective D. D. Warren Novel

    • UNABRIDGED (13 hrs and 28 mins)
    • By Lisa Gardner
    • Narrated By Emily Janice Card, Kirby Heyborne, Kirsten Potter
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

It was a case guaranteed to spark a media feeding frenzy: a young mother, blond and pretty, disappears without a trace from her South Boston home, leaving behind her four-year-old daughter as the only witness and her handsome, secretive husband as the prime suspect. But from the moment Detective Sergeant D. D. Warren arrives at the Joneses - a snug little bungalow, she senses something off about the picture of wholesome normality the couple worked so hard to create.

KSK says: "Listen to "Say Goodbye" first"
    "an excellent listen"

The whole book just kept me guessing, for sure I am right, then changing my mind several times. Excellent plot twists!!!

  • Unspoken

    • UNABRIDGED (12 hrs and 26 mins)
    • By Lisa Jackson
    • Narrated By Alyssa Bresnahan

Lisa Jackson is the USA Today best-selling author of Whispers and has over three million copies of her thrilling romances in print. In Unspoken, Shelby Cole has returned to Bad Luck, Texas, to search for the daughter she once believed was dead. Fearing a confrontation with a hated man from her past, there is only one person Shelby can turn to - childhood love Nevada Smith.

Jackie says: "Unrealistic, but I got thru it"
"Unrealistic, but I got thru it"

The beginning of the book is hard to get thru, but starts to pay off finally toward the end.The emotions toward her lover seems real enough, but totally unbelievable and sometimes non-existent regarding the loss of her daughter. Like "woops, you did a bad thing, but o well"

  • Predator

    • UNABRIDGED (10 hrs and 51 mins)
    • By Patricia Cornwell
    • Narrated By Kate Reading
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Dr. Kay Scarpetta, now freelancing with the National Forensic Academy in Florida, takes charge of a case that stretches from steamy Florida to snowbound Boston, one as unnerving as any she has ever faced. The teasing psychological clues lead Scarpetta and her team, Pete Marino, Benton Wesley, and Lucy Farinelli, to suspect that they are hunting someone with a cunning and malevolent mind whose secrets have kept them in the shadows, until now.

Babs says: "What's next? Scarpetta kidnapped by aliens?"

Definetly a Scarpetta fan, but this one was a big disappointment! The story just dragged by, and I went back several times thinking I must have missed something - but alas not! Our beloved characters were almost unrecognizable. I am not even sure how it ended.
