Who owns the Eustace Diamonds? Lizzie Eustace claims that Sir Florian Eustace, her late husband, gave them to her. But Mr Camperdown, the family solicitor, insists that they are an heirloom, to be passed down from generation to generation. Lizzie is both beautiful and clever, yet Mr Camperdown believes her to be a scheming liar. And Mr Camperdown is right! The battle for the diamonds rages until a robbery intervenes and they disappear. Or do they...?

What made the experience of listening to The Eustace Diamonds the most enjoyable?

I just loved this! At times I laughed out loud at the clever way the reader brought out the subtle irony of the text. He made the characters live with a different accent and intonation for each character. His female characters are a scream! The pauses for effect were just wonderful. I've ordered the Prime Minister. Unfortunately I had already bought the next book in the series Phineas Delux before I discovered the audible app.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Eustace Diamonds?

The final confrontation between Lizzie Eustace and Lucy about whether Lucy should marry Frank.

Have you listened to any of Timothy West’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes- Phineas Finn got me started.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

It makes me laugh and marvel at the language.

    Any additional comments?

I thoroughly recommend the Timothy West readings of any Trollope books. I am looking forward to downloading the Barchester Chronicles after the Palliser books.
