If you love Kevin Smith, this is for you. If you like Kevin Smith… not so much. This is his chronicled life story, which I am not interested in. I thought it would be a bunch of insights on different life topics. While his "insights" are semi woven into his biography its not what I was looking for. Even though I think him to be very clever and creative I just don't care about his story.
Good, OK, and Meh.
So you take a great writer like Tufo, a master at hooking you in with his characters. Add a good portion of George Orwell like society. A sprinkling of the Giver with a hint of Brave New World and Hunger Games an poof! Now far be it from to point out how not original the vibe of the story is. But, when the writing is this good and the format so solid, who cares. It's darn good. When the "To be continued" is declared, and you scream inwardly "NO", even though you knew it was coming.... yeah you know your hooked.
Not the audio version. Written form sure.
Not in the least. I enjoyed the plot, not as much as some of the other Mitch Wrap tales, but I never felt the intense anxiety rush that gets you all excited like "where is this going".
Since nothing could have made it worse... Someone else narrating. Picture Mitch Wrap, a great looking suave and brilliant assassin for the world's best and most powerful. With the voice of Louis Black. Over the top loud in an annoying nasal sixty year old man voice. To think when Ken Kilban read for the part of Mitch Wrap, someone sat in the same room listening to what sounds like Gilbert Gottfried's Father and thought to himself, "Perfect! this is our man."
No, It was really good but just nothing really hooked me in.
If the Author had been concerned about his novel rather than cashing his checks. If there was a plot. If there had been some character development. If there had been some interesting scenarios the character had encountered. If the new characters introduced had any ability to make you care or be interested in them.
Basically this book is completely empty of substance, half hearted, and lazy. It's 11.5 hours of words strung together with out anything being said.
Mr. McFerrin is fine, maybe he could read a turd of a story like this one faster to help end the listener's suffering sooner.
Well, I'm only 10 hours into the book so far, so there is hope that the zombies will overtake all of the current survivors thereby extinguishing the human race and this book series with it.
I thought of this series as a good B- series of zombies novels, (until this one). Sometimes even rising to a solid A. But Wow! I will certainly be asking for my credit back.
Fist let me say I've really enjoyed this series. I was really excited when the book was released, but the lack of intrigue and action coupled with excessive detail regarding inconsequential matters tells me they just want to extend this storyline into more books. Uhhg! I found myself skipping ahead in the chapters.
This book was too slow in the development in the story, much of it telegraphed long before it's completion taking any of the punch out of it.
It's keeping me abreast in the series.
Substance, Execution, Non-filler.
Not a story.
Made me no longer hate Annie.
I bought this audio book, not expecting much. Most, if not all of the poker literature by famous poker players is junk, with lots of fluff and self adulation. Being the poker junkie I am, I went ahead and downloaded it. Right from the start Annie jumps into discussing theory and concepts of the game in a way that shows what can only be the mind of not only a good player but a great teacher who's sole purpose was to put out a great product. And it is. A lot of
The first person should be John Glover. I am shocked that this change of narrator was even considered let alone given the green light. I actually feel insulted, (strictly an emotional response, I know its silly) that they can have any yahoo garble this, my Dresden Files (emotion) and we should lap it up and like it. If you have listened to the previous books listen to the free preview before buying. Then after the free preview don't be swayed by your heart strings, this hack sounds awful!
