Perhaps it wasn't from our time, perhaps it wasn't even from our universe, but the arrival of the 300-kilometer long stone was the answer to humanity's desperate plea to end the threat of nuclear war. Inside the deep recesses of the stone lies Thistledown: the remnants of a human society, versed in English, Russian and Chinese. The artifacts of this familiar people foretell a great Death caused by the ravages of war, but the government and scientists are unable to decide how to use this knowledge.

William Gibson's dark visions of computer cowboys, bio-enhanced soldiers of fortune, and hi-tech lowlifes have won unprecedented praise. Included here are some of the most famous short fiction and novellas by the author of Count Zero and Neuromancer.

What other book might you compare Burning Chrome to and why?

Necromancer, Count Zero, Mona Lisa Overdrive.
In Burning Chrome there are 10 short stories.
The first and the last one are 10 out of 10.
    First "Jonnie Neumonic"
The Last one is "Burning Chrome"
From these 2 short stories came the three great books that followed ( mentioned them above ) Better known as the "Sprawl Trilogy"

Have you listened to any of the narrators’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Well I own the original Neuromancer (abridged) read by William Gibson on tape.
When I listen to the one I downloaded here, I get to here what BG left out.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The ride down on the I. C E. into the T.S. core.

    Any additional comments?

This book and the others mentioned set SFX in a new direction.
Just Like Punk Rock. when this new genera was labeled CYBER PUNK it killed the vain.
I have read a book that is almost as good as these for a possible future "Reality 36"
    Very creative.
I am looking for any other books that have an A.I. as one of the characters.
