Judith Hampton was as beautiful as she was proud and loyal. Her dear Scottish friend from childhood was about to give birth, and Judith had promised to be at her side. But there was another reason for the journey from her bleak English home to the Highlands: to meet the father she had never known, the Laird Maclean. Nothing prepared her, however, for the sight of the Scottish barbarian who was to escort her into his land...Iain Maitland, laird of his clan, a man more powerfully compelling than any she had ever encountered.

I've listened to so many audiobooks and this is the first time I've written a review! I really loved everything about this story! The characters were well defined and the love story was enchanting, funny and spicy! I know there have been a few reviews regarding Susan Duerden's narration, but I loved her voices, male and female! At times, I was laughing out loud at many of the voices of the clan elders! Soooooo funny! I hated getting out of my car! Love love love!!! Thank you Julie for creating a sexy, funny and sweet story for me to get lost in, in horrible traffic!!

In Wishful Drinking, Carrie Fisher tells the true and intoxicating story of her life with inimitable wit. Born to celebrity parents, she was picked to play a princess in a little movie called Star Wars when only 19 years old. "But it isn't all sweetness and light sabers."

Nick says: "An entertaining, yet unfortunate story."

What would have made Wishful Drinking better?

I think Ms. Fisher is a great writer and I probably would have enjoyed reading her book instead of listening to her. She over acts in my opinion and it was distracting. Again, I love her writing; I just found her voice irritating.

What was most disappointing about Carrie Fisher’s story?

Her story is compelling and funny and a little glimpse into her life.

Would you be willing to try another one of Carrie Fisher’s performances?

I would rather read her books instead of listening to her speak her story. She tries too hard to make it funny. She doesn't have to because it is already.

Twenty-five-year-old Julie Jacobs is heartbroken over the death of her beloved aunt Rose. But the shock goes even deeper when she learns that the woman who has been like a mother to her has left her entire estate to Julie’s twin sister. The only thing Julie receives is a key—one carried by her mother on the day she herself died—to a safety-deposit box in Siena, Italy.

    "great listen!"
    Overall

I loved listening to this, although it did take me a while to get used to Cassandra's style. Once I did, however, I really enjoyed listening to her. This is a great listen for people who are stuck in horrible traffic and want the ride to sail by. It's got suspense and romance. I'm fine with that. Is it great literature? No, but it's fun and romantic and I loved it. I love the story of Romeo and Juliet and this is not meant to be historically accurate. It's a ride, enjoy!
