Best, nothing. Least, everything. I love Samantha Young and her Dublin Street series, so I thought let's listen to this new series. I felt like I was back in high school, and who wants a trip down memory lane with teens? Please stick with the grown ups, your writing is so much better with mature characters as lovers....
Story was fine, ending was expected. It took forever to get there.... I listened on three times the speed to not waste the credit....still way to immature.
All she needed to do was chew gum and I would of been back in high school....fast talking teen....help me. Listening it to three times the speed made it almost funny like listening to a fourteen year old ramble on....
Heck No! Too much sex for an afterschool movie, and that is the age level!
The latest book "On Jamica Lane" is a great listen/read...please stick to mature romance stories, you do them so much better Samantha Young.
Are you kidding? Listening to a guys view, read by a guy, is fantastic! So funny, this should be mandatory reading for women.... If there is even a speck of truth in this--it is a lesson in life and laughter. Audible, you picked a great book to read, now record the rest of the series, PLEASE!
The entire story is so funny, and the reader is perrrrrrrfect. The thanksgiving dinner with his niece and the language jar had me laughing out loud....I could not stop listening, Emma Chase is an author with a quick mind, loved the running comments, loved, loved, loved them!
Drew was such "a guy"! Totally funny. And Sevastian York's voice is like warm honey being poured all over your body--I could listen to him all day and all night too.... I laughed when he described a man's love affair with his car--seriously! Anything he reads is on my favorite list.
It made me laugh out loud, more times than I can count. It was so funny....great humor. Guys being guys, for sure!
Please, audible record the rest of the series, this was too much fun not to be able to listen the the rest of the series. Funny, and fun....loved this book!
This entire series is just an excellent listen/read. The writing is wonderful and keeps you listening. I could not put it down, listened every free second until the end. Plot and story are realistic, and keeps your attention. Your pulling for the "Happy Ever After" for these two and love the way characters from the first three books are included in the story as their lives progress. I hope this series never ends, I want more....Uncle Mick, and Kole, and yes, more from the original couples.... Can't wait for the next in the series, Hanna...Write faster Samantha....
Olivia, and Nate both. Olivia for her funny remarks, geese we all want a girl friend like her.... Nate, for his sexy, sweet way with her. He is totally Hot!
Nice read. Sometimes I had to rewind that scot's accent, and me with scot grandparents, but over all it was a great read/listen. Nicely done. All the readers in this series are just excellent....
It made me sigh, more than once. And it made me say out loud, "now that was hot"!
I love this series, and can not wait until the next book comes out. I never read a book more than once, and usually have two books going at once--as the mood strikes me I read whatever. However, this series has my undivided attention. I can not wait to read the next book in the series, then can not wait to finish each book, then I listen to it again to catch anything I missed the first listen. Love this writer, and all I can say is MORE PLEASE!
How can you even compare, this reader was just excellent, accents and characters were done perfectly. I never listen to a book more than once, but this one I did and heard even more sutle drama the second listen....great job.
Braden, what a man! We are all in love with Braden, my sister, my daughter, my grandmother and toss me in there too. Even my grandmother said he would give grandpa a run for the money! Someone invent a time machine so I can go back before he falls for Jos.... If they make them like that in Scotland, my daughter is saving for a long vacation...
Ellie's diagnosis was really an emotional part of the story. When Jos and Ellie cried themselves to sleep like little girls, and this part of the story was very dear. It truly caught the closeness of two dear girl friends who care for each other...
I could not stop listening to it, talk about missing sleep...and carrying around your iPad and iPhone every minute as you worked and went about your day. Well if guys can listen to sports on their iPhone all day, we girls can listen to a great book!
Really good story, and perfectly read. The accents were perfect and right on for the characters, I have listened to this book twice, and can not wait for the next in the series ("On London Road" was also an excellent book but with a different reader. Ellies story was a bit weak, felt like it was just to put something out there as we already knew her story from this book "On Dublin Street". Olivia and Nate are next in "On Jamacia Road", and we are waiting for the audio book to come out... Please, hurry as we are really looking forward to the rest of the series.... Petie and ? Cole and ? Uncle Mick and ? Would love to see this a dozen book series, the writer is that great!)
Remarkable story, based on truth and the lives of two people who accomplished much, lived through such awful heartache and trauma, who demonstrated how foolish and false we can be in our younger years, and yet survived to go on and raise a family and live out their lives. This book gave perspective to their lives, and established a possible rational for their behaviors...their choices made, good and bad. It did what all good books do, it made me research further those in the story...determine what became of her family, her children, and his children in Europe. It is well worth the read...or time to listen.
It helped me to understand these two lives, and how they survived through greatness, and loss, and trauma, and stupidity, and the simple living out of their lives. It confirmed what we already suspected, that greatness can be achieved, and yet often one is not prepared for the fall--out that follows.... That even with unbelieveable loss and horror, the human spirit strives to survive, and find love in this life we are given.
Anne Morrow Lindbergh was well performed, yet I can not say her character was a favorite. As a senior, and a retired college professor, I understand my mother's generation and their limitations as women; but I still wanted to shake this woman until her brain engaged.... I also understand loving a man whole heartedly, but still know to be true to yourself. She was a Smith graduate, and her mother became an example to women of her time, yet she still bought into Nazi German concepts...and she tried to tell us it was her husband, even her family was shocked....
Lorna Raver was just excellent in her performance of this book, well read.
A Woman's story...Endured!
At times I felt this book was a defense of her behavior, yet with the tragic loss of her son who could blame her for not thinking clearly. And, at times this book made me bored with her "door mat" behavior--this from an intelligent woman, an educated woman, a well positioned woman. I have seen the Spirit of St. Louis, and it is amazing what Charles A. Lindbergh accomplished, and how it colored his life from that moment on, and her's too, was what made this a well written book.
Yes, and I have... There are a dozen friends who are reading this series since I have recommended or shared one of the Miss Julia books with them...and we all love this series. Why? Because we can all use a little fun and laughter in our lives, and Miss Julia reminds us what trouble one can get into, and out of, with friends and family...she is a joy.
Well, not on the edge of my seat, but it did keep me happily reading, and now and then I would stop to just giggle at this story.... One never knows what Miss Julia is going to get into next.
We all love Miss Julia, and Little Lloyd, but I adore Lillian.... My favorite books are those when Lillian and Julia get into trouble together....
It made me laugh, and it sure puts a smile on your face when you read or listen to this series.
I often read series books, Father Tim, Miss Dorothy, and so many others; but Miss Julia is the one I love the best.... This series always gives you a laugh, and makes you feel like your right at home with the cast of characters. I have read much of this series, but enjoy the audio as the characters come to life... I never grow tired of this series, and have a dozen friends now reading and listening to this wonderful series of books.... Keep on going Miss Julia, we all love you!
Yes, easy listening to a wonderfully spoken book.
Once ego was over looked, the story had a true ring to it. Seedy sides of past failures were not the focus, and family seemed to demonstrate that the author now has his life priorities as they should be.... I enjoyed the West Wing history, wondered why he left as everyone loved his character Sam. Nice easy book for a summer listen....
Just TV and movies....
Not notible enough for a film, but a nice book to listen to for the summer.
