The intrigue of how the US ended up in WWI, despite Wilson's isolationist stance. Found it entertaining as well, read like spy fiction.
My favourite genre, so I have a bias, but entertaining, realistic historical fiction. I finished this in short order wishing there was more.
Was kind of disappointed in the previous few in this series, this is a good rebound imho.
Was worried when I realized it wasn't, only to be pleasantly surprised with Jussi's latest effort. In fact I think it's really, really good, love historical fiction particlularly of the WW2 genre, though I think it would be enjoyed by most non ww2 fans. Highly recommend, another great Scandinavian author for my bookshelf....running out of room though.
Early days and successes of Nazi Germany, told by a Shirer who was there to see it all. Reads like a novel.
Intersting not a dry account of facts and figures or a text book. Highly recommend.
Mixes well with actual events and characters such Admiral Canaris and the Abwehr. Went into it with no expectations and really enjoyed the story, well told with numerous subplots some more fast paced than others.
Reminds me a lot of the Bernie Gunther series by Philip Kerr, not as "Noirish" but really good read with a good tale. A good guy among thugs and chaos trying to solve a murder in a place of genocides. Highly recommend,,,, looking forward to the the next one as it looks like a new series.
Low Expectations, but I really enjoyed this! Highly recommend for anyone who likes the era and the genre. Says Book 1, hope it is a series as story starts pre WW2 in mid to late 30's. Really looking forward to the next installment, reminds me of Furst and Kerr,
Another good addition to the Victor series, was pleasantly surprised with this series from an author and a narrator I had never heard before. Good storyline, suspenseful, at times tense and not too far fetched in terms of plot and characters imo.... Highly recommend to those that like this genre and looking for a new series to start or jump into.
Reads like a novel, John Lee does an excellent job narrating as usual. Highly recommend for anyone interested in this era of history.
