Great book. Gives an understanding of the development of a great man. Exceptional scholarship. Detailed to the point of wordiness, but worth sticking to is.
Who said history is dull? This is a great story, well-researched, and superbly told. Nevertheless, I found the reader's voice harsh and annoying, especially after listening for long periods at a time. Do not let this opinion deter you from picking up this book, however, as it is well worth your time.
Worth neither the time nor the money. It was disappointing almost from the first word.
It has hit the fan. What we have long known or expected, is really true. The need for spin, double-speak and "fudging", will surely stop now. Really? Don't bet your life on it. Great uncovering of the truth..
A fascinating look at the interaction between present and past chief executives. You learn that "out of power" does not mean exactly out of power. The interaction between these men is intriguing.
Overall, a mildly interesting book for monarcho-philes but superficial and glorifying. Not a waste of time, especially for learning about her earlier years but at best a "beach" book, neither one that is a complete waste of time, nor one you would hate to lose.
A treat for the ears. A wonderful story. No susrprise it has been filmed repeatedly. Nicely performed.
A wringing account of the demise of Detroit. Almost mind-numbing in its dark detail, but impossible to put down. Not for those with delicate ears. Heavy with the actual profanity of modern-day Detroit.
A really gripping read. At once didactic and personal, it increased my understanding of the ambiguous position of Native Americans in US culture and warmed my soul with its portraits of individual experience.
This book as a conundrum. On the one hand, it is very revealing about plantation life from the eyes of a slave. On the other hand, the writing style is uneven and wordy. The performance was superb, The book is at the same time interesting and boring, at once truth and fiction.
Elizabeth as a paper doll. Idealized. flat portrait of a complicated person. Stopped in the middle and erased.
