The people of Earth are preparing for war - a war that could potentially destroy the planet. Explorers are sent to Mars to find a new place for humans to colonize. Bradbury's Mars is a place of hope, dreams, and metaphor, where a fine dust settles on the great empty cities of a silently destroyed civilization. It is here the invaders have come to despoil and commercialize, to grow and to learn - first a trickle, then a torrent, rushing from a world with no future toward a promise of tomorrow. The Earthman conquers Mars... and then is conquered by it.

Would you try another book from Ray Bradbury and/or The Colonial Radio Players?

My nephew told me he enjoyed the written book. So I thought I would try it for the ride to work. I like Sci-Fi but have to say this book is so badly written with terrible characters that it is so bad that it should be a -1 on the rating scale. I should have returned it, just TERRIBLE!

What didn’t you like about The Colonial Radio Players’s performance?

I have to say I like the play-like narration but the story is so bad I could not finish it.

What character would you cut from The Martian Chronicles: A Radio Dramatization?

    Everyone!

Is there anything you would change about this book?

There are many numbered lists in this book that would be better if purchased as a printed book. There is a ton of "filler" information in this book. I would imagine this could be a Pamphlet. It is not worth the cost.

What was most disappointing about Travis Bradberry and Jean Greaves ’s story?

The narration was laughable. He reads experiences from men and women. Instead of just reading the experience he reads one (like a woman) in a high pitched voice, then one like an angry man, happy man… it was so bad, so distracting I could not take it anymore.

    Return it.

The book is so hyped up after listening and listening and waiting for something insightful and interesting this book left me wanting. What a total waste of money and time.

He is an awesome narrator, to bad it was on such a worthless book.

From his perspective in Renaissance Italy, Machiavelli's aim in this classic work was to resolve conflict with the ruling prince, Lorenzo de Medici. Machiavelli based his insights on the way people really are rather than an ideal of how they should be. This is the world's most famous master plan for seizing and holding power. Astonishing in its candor The Prince even today remains a disturbingly realistic and prophetic work on what it takes to be a prince, a king, or a president.

Shamatha-vipashyana is a profound form of meditation that illuminates and purifies the obstacles to spiritual realization. Tibetan Buddhists today regard it as both the foundation and the pinnacle of the awakened life. With Pema Chodron, you'll learn the nuances of this subtle and deeply rewarding practice in this accessible introduction and guided meditation into the experience of pure meditation.

What would have made Tibetan Buddhist Meditation better?

I have many of Pema's books and audio books, even bought some from Sounds True site.

This audio is nothing more than a sound bite from a talk from Pema. It is nothing more then Pema talking about how to sit.

This does not "sound true" to me, taking bits and pieces of a talk and selling it. Get real.

What could Pema Chodron have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Stop allowing sound true to chop up talks in this manner.

Now Harijiwan Khalsa offers Kundalini Meditation, an audio program to help anyone tap into the power of this ancient tradition.

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

Buy A Chakra Meditation by Glenn Harrold. He has a long version 45 minutes and a shorter 25 minute version. The audio is very good, great sound, and speaks at a tone that is very clear.

Would you ever listen to anything by Harijiwan Khalsa again?

    No Way.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

His voice is very jarring, this does not work when you are trying to meditate.

Also instead of spending some money on special effects on this audio, such as an Echo he says... "now, now, now, now..." like faking a echo sound. IT IS hilarious! But again laughing at this audio is not helping for meditation either.

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

No, Jon's narration is robotic. If you want to sleep then listen to this book. Frankly it was so much so I could gained very little from this book. When I was able to keep my attention on the robotic voice I did have some insight. I think the book is overall good, but really get another person to read it and re-publish the audio book.

What could Jon Kabat-Zinn have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Have another person narrate the book. Jon reads with no emotion, no emphasis any word or idea. I have tried to listen to this book many times. The last time was a flight and I fell into a deep sleep.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

    Speaks very mono-tone.

    Any additional comments?

I would not purchase any audible book that Jon narrates.

"Believing that something is wrong with us is a deep and tenacious suffering," says Tara Brach at the start of this illuminating book. This suffering emerges in crippling self-judgments and conflicts in our relationships, in addictions and perfectionism, in loneliness and overwork - all the forces that keep our lives constricted and unfulfilled. Radical Acceptance offers a path to freedom, including the day-to-day practical guidance developed over Dr. Brach's 20 years of work with therapy clients and Buddhist students.

Where does Radical Acceptance rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I have read many books on meditation. I have been a fan of Tolle for a very long time, but I have to say this book by Brach is far more reaching and more practical than any book I have read by Tolle. Tolle I have seemed to listen to countless times, but found Radical Acceptance to provide clearer direction on what action to take day by day. She gives very clear examples of how to practice mindfulness, meditation, and work through some emotional issues.

What does Cassandra Campbell bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Her reading is wonderful, to the point, read with emotion. She reads this book as if she was the author. Excellent!

Out of nowhere, like a fresh breeze in a marketplace crowded with advice on what to believe, comes Byron Katie and what she calls "The Work". In the midst of a normal life, Katie became increasingly depressed. Then one morning, she woke up in a state of absolute joy, filled with the realization of how her own suffering had ended. The freedom of that realization has never left her, and now, in Loving What Is, you can discover the same freedom through The Work.

It seems so interesting that such a simple idea (4 questions) could be so powerful. I really enjoyed the book and thought the audio program would be nice to have for the drive to work. I thought the audio program was going to be the author reading the book, but it was wonderful that it was people speaking live as Katie takes them through the 4 questions. Don't let this simple idea (4 questions) stop you from taking in this material...."Everything should be made as simple as possible, but not simpler." — Albert Einstein
