Would you consider the audio edition of Getting Past Your Past to be better than the print version?

No I wouldn't. I really like the content of this book but both my husband and I cannot stand listening to this narrator. She comes across as overly dramatic and her style really interferes with taking in the message of this book.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

    Too emotionally syrupy and dramatic.

    Any additional comments?

To the publisher: Please do not use this narrator. We had the same reaction to her work in Daring Greatly by Brenee Brown.

Researcher and thought leader Dr. Brené Brown offers a powerful new vision that encourages us to dare greatly: to embrace vulnerability and imperfection, to live wholeheartedly, and to courageously engage in our lives. In Daring Greatly, Dr. Brown challenges everything we think we know about vulnerability. Based on 12 years of research, her book argues that vulnerability is not weakness but rather our clearest path to courage, engagement, and meaningful connection.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

I really like the content of this book but both my husband and I cannot stand listening to this narrator. She comes across as overly dramatic and her style really interferes with taking in the message of this book. We almost stopped listening but then found we could tolerate it if we played the book at 1.25 speed.

What did you learn from Daring Greatly that you would use in your daily life?

The concept of "enough" vs. abundance was quite interesting.
