After a sad and neglected childhood as an orphan, Jane Eyre was hired by Edward Rochester as governess for his ward. Jane was pleased with the quiet country life at Thornfield, with the beautiful old manor house and gardens, with the book-filled library, and with her own comfortable room. But there were stories of a strange tenant, a woman who laughed like a maniac, and who stayed in rooms on the third floor.

This is the way the world ends: with a nanosecond of computer error in a Defense Department laboratory and a million casual contacts that form the links in a chain letter of death. And here is the bleak new world of the day after: a world stripped of its institutions and emptied of 99 percent of its people. A world in which a handful of panicky survivors choose sides - or are chosen.

If you could sum up The Stand in three words, what would they be?

    scary, interesting and long

What did you like best about this story?

The character development. You really feel like you know all the people in the book. They are all so complex.

Have you listened to any of Grover Gardner’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I think this is my first one of Grover Garnder's narrations I have listened too. He is wonderful. He does a great job with the variety of voices.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The actual flu pandemic is terrifying.

    Any additional comments?

It is a super long book. The first time I tried to read it was 15 years ago and I was impatient. This time I went in knowing It would take 45 hours to listen to it and it has been worth the time.

It’s been two years since the vampiric virus was unleashed in The Strain and the entire world now lies on the brink of annihilation. There has been a mass extermination of humans orchestrated by the Master - an ancient vampire possessed of unparalleled powers. The future of humankind lies in the hands of a ragtag band of freedom fighters - Dr. Eph Goodweather, Dr. Nora Martinez, Vasiliy Fet, and Mr. Quinlan, the half-breed offspring of the Master who is bent on revenge. It’s their job to overturn this devastating new world order.

What would have made The Night Eternal better?

The whole story didn't need to be 3 books

What was most disappointing about Guillermo Del Toro and Chuck Hogan ’s story?

The more I got to know the main characters the less I liked them. It went beyond them all being flawed. They were all jerks.

What about Daniel Oreskes’s performance did you like?

He did a great job with the story, I just didn't like where it was going.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from The Night Eternal?

most of the middle part. Nothing got resolved until the end which was the same as with The Fall, so there was no tension when things looked like they might work out because I knew they would fail at everything until the end.
