Clare Cosi used to manage the historic Village Blend coffeehouse…until she opted for quieter pastures and a more suburban life. But after ten years and a little friendly cajoling from the owner (a fresh pot of Jamaican Blue Mountain was all it took), she's back to the grind. With a sprawling rent-free apartment directly above the Village Blend, her cat Java by her side, and plenty of coffeehouse redecorating ideas, Clare is thrilled to return to work. Until she discovers the assistant manager unconscious in the back of the store, coffee grounds strewn everywhere.

Would you consider the audio edition of On What Grounds to be better than the print version?

I have no idea as I do not have the printed version.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Yes & No. I read & watch movies on a very high scale - so it takes a great deal for a plot to suprise me. I was not disappointed in anyway.

    Which scene was your favorite?

I don't give teasers or clues = sorry.

    Any additional comments?

Again - a series I am pleased with to date, and purchasing the next in line!
As a solid coffee addict, it just doesn't taste any better!

Orphaned Kit Tyler knows, as she gazes for the first time at the cold, bleak shores of Connecticut Colony, that her new home will never be like the shimmering Caribbean islands she left behind. In her relatives' stern Puritan community, she feels like a tropical bird that has flown to the wrong part of the world, a bird that is now caged and lonely.

Would you consider the audio edition of The Witch of Blackbird Pond to be better than the print version?

    No.
I read this the very first time over 40 years ago.
It became a "must be read" book for my children, nieces, nephews etc.
I have read this book over & over through my life, each time loving it more, as it ran alongside my life & my personal story. It helped me to have strength and stand up to the challenges I faced, and I had my own special "Hannah".
Seeing it in audio was a shock & joy and now I can have it with me constant in my ipod, although my print version is within reach of my chair.
I regret my original was lost in a house fire....

What did you like best about this story?

The simplicity of love & character.
Blueberry cake & kittens truly do heal heartaches, while cornbread & fresh water is a fine breakfast.

What about Mary Beth Hurt’s performance did you like?

I found she did well, my mind gave a voice to this story for too many years to fall in love with any narrator I am sorry to say.
She did a very nice job, but for me.......

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I have laughed, cried and dreamed more than any review can tell.

    Any additional comments?

Every young girl should read this book at the age of 11......
    Just because.

LAPD cop Scott James is not doing so well, not since a shocking nighttime assault by unidentified men killed his partner, Stephanie, nearly killed him, and left him enraged, ashamed, and ready to explode. He is unfit for duty - until he meets his new partner. Maggie is not doing so well, either. The German shepherd survived three tours in Iraq and Afghanistan sniffing explosives before she lost her handler to an IED and sniper attack, and her PTSD is as bad as Scott’s. Would you listen to Suspect again? Why?

Absolutely, I have already listened to it 3 times!
because it is very well written, the facts involved in both the dogs behavior and training are on spot, and with the handler.
This was not just pulled from imagination, but researched very well !

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

I refuse to write spoilers = sorry ;)

What about MacLeod Andrews’s performance did you like?

A clear and easy voice that kept me listening/

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

    yes, and I did.

    Any additional comments?

It is rare to find a GOOD book in this subject that a person who knows and trains dogs can believe and enjoy.
this book had me on all aspects.
    I laughed, I cried, I cringed, I was ready to attack !
It makes me want to go back into training !
I miss holding a good dog while it takes a solid bite!

Available for the first time as an audiobook in this original Outlander novella, Diana Gabaldon reveals what really happened to Roger MacKenzie Wakefield’s parents. Orphaned during World War II, Roger believed that his mother died during the London Blitz, and that his father, an RAF pilot, was killed in combat. But in An Echo in the Bone, Roger discovers that this may not be the whole story. Now, in "A Leaf on the Wind of All Hallows," readers finally learn the truth.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would recommend anything Diana wrote at this stage, including her grocery list!
This is just another view into the lives and loves of the people we have grown to known and cherish in this expansive series.

What did you like best about this story?

I do not do spoilers ;)
The small quirks and facts you can learn about family members just enhances the other writings.

What about Robert Ian MacKenzie’s performance did you like?

Nice smooth deep voice with the emotional levels of a man who is involved in the story line.

Living in the 15th century, Iain Mackintosh remains haunted by the memory of his greatest love. Eight years ago, she disappeared, leaving behind a cairngorm earring as the only evidence of her existence.

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

    to of never started

What could Dee Davis have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

written an ORIGINAL story instead of a copycat idea from a very proven series...

What didn’t you like about Ross Pendleton’s performance?

    the reading was okay,

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

YES, I can return it, and warn others. Making a sideways re-telling of almost an exact storyline of a famous book,, including places & names the same, along with some of THE smuttiest so called loved scenes I have seen in a long time, it almost qualifies as porn, thank heavens I did not buy a print copy and waste good paper!

    Any additional comments?

    I love an original story.
I have seen this more & more often the last 20 yrs. In movies and in print.
A good book and/or series comes out, and suddenly there is nothing but stories of teenage vampires,or wizards, or accidental time travel, then there is the aspects of "foreign" men of regal stature... eg: Highland men, Irish Lords etc....
    Really ?
Get creative - do something NEW !

Betsy Devonshire has settled into her new home in Excelsior, Minnesota, as owner of the town’s needlecraft shop. So why is she suffering from terrifying nightmares? She hasn’t a clue - but thinks maybe it would help to get away for a while. With her friend Jill in tow, she heads north for a “stitch-in” at a remote, rustic lodge. But her nightmares only get worse - especially after she finds a dead woman no one else had seen.

Where does Unraveled Sleeve rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I rate this in my top 10 of "just to relax & enjoy". Although it is not what I would personally call a "gripping" book, again it is a VERY great story that is told in a very clean & calm atmosphere with an easy to listen to narration. I listened to it twice in the first 3 weeks of purchase, and will return to listen yet again without a doubt, as with the other titles in this series.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

This house is filled with movies & books - finding one that actually keeps us on the "edge" are very rare. I will say it was a very smooth written and not easily figured out by the end of each chapter.

Have you listened to any of Susan Boyce’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I am very pleased with her work to date.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

"Allergic to Falling Flakes" * due to the weather, the waterfall that is involved, what she was knitting at the time*

    Any additional comments?

I am off to read the next in the series ! I need to soon begin searching for another series of books that will keep me going through the many nights of 3 am knitting as I try to fight the routines of chronic pain.

New York Times best-selling author Diana Gabaldon enchanted scores of fans with Outlander, her electrifying historical saga set in 18th-century Scotland. Now this sequel sweeps listeners back into the past as Claire relates more of her perilous sojourn there with her Scottish warrior husband, James Fraser. Twenty years after her strange journey back in time, Claire has returned to Scotland with her daughter, determined to share with her the secret she has harbored since her time travel.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Absolutely. Because it is one of the best - well written - on the edge of your seat full of true human emotions books I have read in a very long time!
I do not often give 5 stars across the board - but in this case - author, narrator & story line have well earned it!

What did you like best about this story?

it is real, as though the story of a friend, not a written novel.

What about Davina Porter’s performance did you like?

Everything. Listening to her is a joy. One thing I truly love - her voice is so calm & factual I have spent many nights listening to it through the bedroom while my 2 yr old grandson sleeps next to me. He finds her voice relaxing also apparently. Yet none of the mystery or urgency of the book is lost.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Again I laughed, cried, got angry, had tense moments. Once more the story was as real as life.

    Any additional comments?

I am having trouble waiting for my next membership click to move on to book 3..........My budget says I must wait, but it is not an easy task!

"I believe there is another man inside every man, a stranger...." writes Wilfred Leland James in the early pages of the riveting confession that makes up "1922", the first in this pitch-black quartet of mesmerizing tales from Stephen King. For James, that stranger is awakened when his wife, Arlette, proposes selling off the family homestead and moving to Omaha, setting in motion a gruesome train of murder and madness.

Have you listened to any of Craig Wasson and Jessica Hecht ’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes, and again they have done a fine job!

If you could take any character from Full Dark, No Stars out to dinner, who would it be and why?

sorry, it would have to be Stephen.....

On November 22, 1963, three shots rang out in Dallas, President Kennedy died, and the world changed. What if you could change it back? In this brilliantly conceived tour de force, Stephen King - who has absorbed the social, political, and popular culture of his generation more imaginatively and thoroughly than any other writer - takes listeners on an incredible journey into the past and the possibility of altering it.

Where does 11-22-63 rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Not a fair question. In my library of Stephen King audio - in the top 10 - and we own MANY.
In overall audio, again, I would say close to the top 10.

What did you like best about this story?

The touch of story line that only Stephen can accomplish, you can walk down the hallway with the lights on and still not know where you are going.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When the reality of "what could be" truly hit home with ME.....

    Any additional comments?

Anyone that does not take the time to enjoy this book as they have ( like so many I have met ) judged Stephen as Horror & SciFi only - will be missing one of the best books written in their lifetimes.
Where it poses lots of questions & "what if's" in a readers mind, it also answers a great deal of "what is", and that is why Stephen is such a master of written words.
He tells the truth in the reality of a human life, the real scary story!

Why we think it’s a great listen: An all-time Audible favorite that mixes historic fiction, adventure, and romance with one of the most fascinating literary devices: time travel. Outlander introduces an exhilarating world of heroism and breathtaking thrills as one woman is torn between past and present, passion and love. In 1945, former combat nurse Claire Randall returns from World War II and joins her husband for a second honeymoon. But their blissful reunion is shattered....

What made the experience of listening to Outlander the most enjoyable?

A well written book that is believable becomes a great audio book when the narration is done by someone that truly feels the action. Davina Porter is EXCELLENT !
The story is done with a simple yet very involved outline, the small parts of daily life not skimmed over, but the days not written in a dense curtain that stops you from living the characters lives with them.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Claire has caught my attention the most to date, as she struggles with the emotions.

What about Davina Porter’s performance did you like?

Her clarity in actually BEING the part, I found no fault in her reading at any angle.
( I listed to this book at roughly 3 hrs minimum up to 5 hrs or more daily for over 2 weeks. I backtrack and resume alot due to my little hectic part of the world, but I don't want to miss a word)

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

ABSOLUTELY ! But alas, I am a Wife, Mom, Granny & have a crew of dogs & cats & a cockatoo & turtle that rely on me...........
If I could of taken a week off - I would of done just that!

    Any additional comments?

This book has already been added to my PERMANENT library here at home. I am purchasing the entire series, and most of all, I am telling all of my reading buddies about it.
It is books like this that make me super glad to be a part of Audible.com !
