What a fun book! First let me say the narrator TOTALLY makes this listen worthwhile and I would have bought it for that alone. Second, it's a fun story with colorful characters, lots of action, drama, romance and adventure. Indy Savage is a "rock chick" who runs a local used book store (inherited) and coffee shop (added) but has a knack for getting herself into trouble. Raised by a cop father and best friends with Ali who has two bad boy brothers, there is opportunity for all kinds of shenanigans. After Indy's barista gets himself mixed up with the wrong crowd, Ali's security specialist brother Lee comes a calling and makes a deal with Indy to "protect her". Indy's been in love with Lee since she was five - enough said. The hilarity that ensues will keep you on the edge of your seat as you meet a crazy cat sitting Vietnam vet, Indy's adorable drag queen neighbors, lots of hot special agents and cops along with the mafia, and a few entertaining bad guys. There will be breaking and entering, stun gunning, gun shooting, murdering, high speed chasing, bar fighting, love making, pot smoking, rule breaking and all kinds of laughing out loud. Enjoy this lighthearted hilarious cast of character but at the time of writing this review, book two was not out. You will want to move onto the next part of the story so check before you buy!
This was a very sweet, well written story of a normal girl who becomes extraordinary when finally finding her place in life. For me the beginning moved a little two quickly as the Alpha and the teacher he hires instantly fall in love. I really wish some of the middle would have been cut out to create a better "meet cute" for the couple. Besides that, I truly enjoyed the story of Big Bad and his sweet but tough teacher. The book take a bit different point of view on family, wolves and parenting. Give it a try, I think you'll be "over the moon" too.
Read this book!!!!! (and every other Samantha Young book) Another home run from one of my favorite authors. She writes real characters that are the kind of friends you'd want to hang out with.
This book is HOT, HOT, HOT! If I ever receive mysterious checks in the mail, I'm cashing them too. The characters are a bit unrealistic (but I didn't care), the hero is a bit off (but I didn't care), the story is definitely fiction (but I didn't care), there is a bit to much sex (but I didn't care), I loved this story. This is the kind of story that will NEVER happen to anyone in real life and that's exactly why I loved it. If you like steamy sex, fun loving girlfriends, long suffering but strong heroines and a billionaire hero then this book is for you. I probably would have given it a different title because this is a light bondage book and I think the cover is misleading. Enjoy your check!
I hate going into a story with high expectations because my fellow readers just LOVED this story. Although, I too enjoyed Tenley and Hayden's story, I just didn't love it. There was something missing for me, I just couldn't relate. Basically two twenty something characters who have each suffered great losses find each other and build a relationship using their similar experiences as the common ground. The unrealistic part for me was that the female lead is only 10 months out from 9 members of her family and friends dying in a plane crash and when we meet her she's working, teaching and completing a masters program - WHAT? At that point I kind of just checked out although I did finish the book and I did like it but overall it wasn't good enough for me to move on to the second book to find out what happens. The fact that I went on to another series instead of finishing this one said more to me than anything about this story (even though I wanted to love it). I may go back later and catch the next book but not today.
This story is the typical misunderstood, I have issues from a traumatic experience, pissed off YA teenager story but it's well written (although there is a little at the end I would have edited out) and has a happy ending (YAY). I actually enjoyed the story quite a bit. The reader is great, the writing isn't bad and I found the characters charming and engaging. I was hooked from chapter one and finished within two days. The story made me laugh out loud a couple of times and the characters act their age instead of being written as adults. You can read the synopsis to discover the story line so I won't recap, just know I found the book worth a credit, especially if your looking for something light and easy. This is a stand alone novel so you don't have to worry about finding or waiting for part two although there is another book written from Jarod's perspective (it isn't essential to this story). Have fun discovering how to regrow wings!
First let me just say, don't start if you have to stop. I simply couldn't stop listening. This was a fun well written story from both POV's. Jack McLacklan is a wealthy Australian playboy who doesn't do long term relationships. Matter of fact, he doesn't even do real names. Laurelyn is a beautifully broken young American musician who travels with her best friend to Australia to take a break from her life. When Jack promises her the best three months of her life with no strings attached, she agrees. They are drawn to each other from the beginning and their story unfolds with humor and great sex. Lots of funny things happen along the way to keep the story interesting and fun. Of course as predicted, they both fall in love but are to stubborn to tell. Laurelyn ends up going home without Jack even knowing her name. AHHH, but don't be to disappointed you'll have many more hours of listening with the second book in the series. Don't start one without plans for the other, you'll like it just that much. There are several reviewers irritated with the Australian accent in the book but I didn't have much trouble with it once I was used to it. Just take the story for all it's worth and enjoy.
Forced to participate in "The Grab" to save her sister, Hallie is taken by a top ranking officer from the Valiant war ship. He collars her and claims her by simply saying "mine". Assuming the horror stories are true and the women taken by these warriors are made sex slaves and severely abused, Hallie fears the worst at the hands of her sky warrior. She wakes up chained to a bondage table but soon realizes the women taken are a great honor for these men and a prize hard won. Under the hands of her new Master, Hallie blossoms in her new life. Vicious is the perfect mate and sexual partner, always concerned for his wife's satisfaction and safety. This is actually a very sweet story full of humor, action and lots and lots and lots of steamy sex. It takes a little bit different point of view on bondage and sex games that I found thought provoking. I might caution a reader that the first portion of the book is just one sex scene after another. It does take a while for the actual story to develop but once it does it is pretty good. This book is followed by two more with basically the same story with different couples and I enjoyed all three. It was nice to get out and read something different. Thanks Lolita for including all the previous characters in the other stories as the series develops.
W.O.W. This is the fist book of three telling the story of This Man - Jesse Ward. His lady - Ava is a young interior design professional who comes to Jesse's business for some work. What she finds is a gorgeous, intimidating, tormented, overbearing, control freak who sets his sites on making Ava his. He maneuvers himself into her life by purchasing her latest project and their instant insatiable attraction is quite steamy. The story has the perfect balance of shock, awwww and what the? It's a fun loving and super sexy ride as the complicated character of Jesse unfolds before the innocent Ava. I truly enjoyed all three of these books and what makes them extra special is the narrator - Edita Brychta is FABULOUS! Hold on to your nickers, this one has some good twists and turns.
I love a book that catches me by surprise and this one definitely did! I'll not spoil it for anyone but I will say I was pleasantly surprised by the twist in this story. The story is written from both his and her perspectives and I like knowing what all the characters are thinking. Its physiologically challenging and makes you really think about life after a 20 year relationship. The leading man, Todd, is a complete jerk but I think is written much more like a real man than most women want. The reader gets a good perspective on how some men truly think through his character. I wanted to scream at Jodi on several occasions to stop being such a push over but she really come through for me in the end. The story overall is about the digression of a relationship, an affair with a younger woman and the eventual marital separation (with a twist!). If you're looking for something to break the monotony of your usual pace, I recommend this read. I hope you too will be surprised.
