I am a fan of the Donald and when I saw that Robert Kiyosaki was in the book I was a little skeptical. The book was better than I thought and I actually enjoy Robert in the book more than Donald. It have very little 'think your self to success' as both of them shared genuine struggles in their business careers. I would recommend this book pretty strongly if you already have a small library of business books. There are better books but this one is still worth a read.
...is basically how he writes this book. It's very interesting since I was quite young in the 80s and don't remember some of the situations back then.
Jack Welch stresses the culture that he tried to breeds into GE. He explains how he was willing to make changes if it bettered the company later on in life.
Overall, great book, probably a one or two time listen though, but well worth the listen if you are interested in business culture and dealing with management.
I usually make a point to finish what I started, including long and borring books. This is one of them. I love listening to stories of startup businesses, but 50 is too much. The information is very dated, I believe from 2007, and the internet world has changed so much since then. A lot of examples from Australia, which was interesting.
Some of the book was interesting, but 50 stories just became very repetitive very quickly. The information is out of date. I couldn't finished this one, I got about 4 hours into it, but thought about leaving it after 45 minutes.
I've listened to this book three times and its worth every second. The authors break down almost in an entertaining classroom style lesson. They profile why some companies are really worlds apart in success and culture.
The best part is that they go into good detail so a business owner like my self can impliment immediately.
You can easily appreciately the cleaverness and work that went into this book. If you are a business owner or thinking about it, this is a must read.
This book was very difficult to get through. The recording was great, even though it was from different speaking events, but the speakers had very little to share or knowledge. It was hard to get anything out of their own arrogant speech.
The only speaker who had any content was the last speaker at the end of the book. If the rest of the book was like him in delivering content, the book would be OK. He spoke briefly about how to sell or pitch a product. Everyone else talked about how awesome, or generous or how many rich and famous people they mentor, which I was doubting by the end of each speaker.
From a business/bankruptcy lawyers perspective, you get an idea of why most small business go out of business or struggle so much. It was quite eye opening from my small business experience, when sometimes you'd just rather not know some information, but this book shows you that you can never afford to do that.
Good book, I'd recommend it to anyone who has a small business, especially if they've been in business for a while.
I was insulted for reading this book. If the author could of spent just a few minutes, even in the bathroom, making an outline of what he was going to say, the book would of been better.
From stuttering from word to word because you KNOW he is making it up as he goes along, to using dumbest examples. I could of done with 28 minutes of my time back.
I read a lot of business books and this is by far the worst. I usually don't write bad reviews, even if the book isn't that good, but I couldn't wait to help people avoid this trash.
I really expected this book to be a feel good, point your finger to your head and believe in your self garbage, it wasn't at all. I've read many business books (or listened), and this one definitely is at the top of my list for social and internet marketing. It's full of very practical advice with examples and stories that you can act on right away. I'm definitely going to read this one again soon. The Author even reaches out to you in this book and asks you to email him if you need help. Within an hour he emailed me back on a Sunday! I've never seen an author do anything like that.
I couldn't get enough of this book. My only complaint is that I was disappointed there wasn't another book by Norm Brodsky. He talks about starting and maintaining businesses and helping other people get started and grow their business. Uses many true stories and answers many common questions I have as a business owner. There is absolutely NOT any fluff in this book about touching your mind or positive thinking. Instead Norm Brodsky spends his time on being smart and make sure your growing your business.
Very obvious points that any 3rd grader with knowlege of crayons could of come up with. There are absolutely no secrets or helpful information in this audible. It does make a desparate attempt to motivate you to become sucessful by telling you that you're smarter than everyone else... I guess he must of been talking only to me because not everyone could be smarter than everyone else....
