An orphan's life is harsh---and often short---in the island city of Camorr, built on the ruins of a mysterious alien race. But born with a quick wit and a gift for thieving, Locke Lamora has dodged both death and slavery, only to fall into the hands of an eyeless priest known as Chains---a man who is neither blind nor a priest. A con artist of extraordinary talent, Chains passes his skills on to his carefully selected "family" of orphans---a group known as the Gentlemen Bastards.

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

Probably not. It's too hard to root for the hero characters, because they have no redeeming qualities. They are thieves, but far from Robin Hood. If I'm going to care about a thief, I'd like some reason to be for him. However, the story is enjoyable at times, and I could see the author becoming extremely successful in future stories, because he does write well.

Would you be willing to try another book from Scott Lynch? Why or why not?

Yes. I had issues with this one, but Lynch does write well enough to capture interest and keep the story going.

Was The Lies of Locke Lamora worth the listening time?

    Somewhat.

Ever since she was a tiny child, Sabriel has lived outside the walls of the Old Kingdom, away from the random power of Free Magic, and away from the Dead who won't stay dead. But now her father, the Mage Abhorsen, is missing, and to find him Sabriel must cross back into that world.

Would you try another book from Garth Nix and/or Tim Curry?

I probably wouldn't try another book by Nix.
I've read countless fantasy book series. This one was very dull.
