From best-selling author Kay Hooper comes a thrilling tale with a paranormal bent and a touch of romance. Cassie Neill has a powerful but troubling gift. She can see inside the minds of serial killers as they are planning their crimes. Tormented by her ability, she takes refuge in a secluded North Carolina town. But there’s no escaping her visions, and when a body surfaces just where she predicted, Cassie is suddenly a suspect.

What disappointed you about Stealing Shadows?

Although I enjoyed the storeyline, I'm afraid the narrator took the enjoyment out of the audible experience for me. She kept putting me to sleep with a dull monotone voice. She had a higher pitch for females and lower pitch for males, but all the females sounded alike and the same for the males. I had to keep checking to see who was talking because you just couldn't tell one from another.

If you’ve listened to books by Kay Hooper before, how does this one compare?

I enjoy Kay Hooper books, and the story here wasn't one of my favorites, but still enjoyed it.

How could the performance have been better?

Nothing short of another narrator would have helped the performance.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Stealing Shadows?

    None.

    Any additional comments?

Lots of suspense building, but a little predictable ending.

The bed and breakfast was hidden in the hills of West Virginia. Wary guests wondered how it could stay in business at such a creepy, remote location, especially with its bizarre, presidential decor and eccentric proprietor. With the event hotel for the national Iron Woman triathlon accidentally overbooked, competitor Maria was forced to stay at the Rushmore. But after checking into her room, she quickly realized she wasn't alone....

What did you love best about Endurance?

I love blood and gore books, turns out I have a cut off point though! Don't get me wrong...I loved it, but a few times it was so gross that I had to lay it aside for a day and read something else to get me out of this story! You definitely need endurance to get to the end of this book!

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

Made me shiver....cant get much more enjoyable than that.

What about Christopher Lane’s performance did you like?

OMG! It was like watching the movie, I could picture every slobbering, greasy character just from his portrayal of them. Even the grandmother had a very endearing portrayal kind of like Katherine Hepburn.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I was definitely moved when Miles got his hand sawed off and handed to him and the sinister doc started eyeballing what to sever next....ewwwww EWW!

    Any additional comments?

I am glad it is finished....in a good way. Now a nice old fashioned detective story would be nice....

Lisa Jackson's novels of romance and suspense race up the best-seller charts. In Left to Die, the Pinewood County Sheriff 's Department is on the trail of a cold-blooded killer who acts as a savior to women stranded during terrible mountain snowstorms before stripping them of their dignity and leaving them to die, a victim of the elements. But the killer's latest victim managed to escape, leading some to believe there may now be an imposter on the loose.

What did you love best about Left to Die?

I loved the storyline, however it was a little hard to keep up at times. It bounced from one female character to another without coming up for air, which left me confused at times. It was fast paced and a bit of a roller coaster ride from highs to lows throughout the story. Definitely a really good listen!

What aspect of Alan Nebelthau’s performance would you have changed?

A good compatible voice for the story, but I would have liked some clue that we were now changing to another character. I loved the gentle voice of the rescuer, it really added to the ambiance of the situation.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, I couldn't wait to get to the end to find out who the serial killer was.....imagine my surprise!

    Any additional comments?

The ENDING? Oh you will want to see for yourself, so no clues!

FBI Special Agent Griffin Hammersmith, last seen in Backfire, has been recruited by Dillon Savich to join his unit in Washington, D.C. Savich sees something special in Hammersmith, an almost preternatural instinct for tracking criminals. While on his way to D.C., Hammersmith plans to visit his sister, Delsey, a student at Stanislaus School of Music in Maestro, Virginia. Before he arrives, he gets a phone call that Delsey has been found naked and unconscious, lying in a pool of blood, after a wild party. The blood isn’t hers - so to whom does it belong? Griffin must protect Delsey, but from whom?

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

Catherine, baby, work with me here! A cheesy line...for an even cheesier story line and extra cheesy narration!

What was most disappointing about Catherine Coulter’s story?

Catherine Coulter has always been one of my favorite authors with books that grip you from beginning to end. This book, however, was so full of unbelievable characters and silly situations that I just could NOT get into it. I get that the main character was attractive, but does every character in the story have to drool and swoon over him....even his sister comments about his looks...get over it!

How did the narrator detract from the book?

The narrator was so over the top, with so many accents thrown into the mix, it was hard to focus on the actual story. From the syrupy southern belle to the Pink Panther french accents
and the sister that sounded like a ten year old child, it was hard to imagine any of them in this story.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Bombshell?

UHH! Where do I begin....to cut scenes from this book, I would have to give away too much of the story to other readers.

    Any additional comments?

When the book is listed as an FBI thriller, I'm excited and expect to be thrilled.... this was not a thriller. Somewhere in among all the silly character portrayals there was probably a good detective story at most. Will still watch for the next Catherine Coulter novel, but please....choose another narrator who will not deter from the story.

What would have made Hidden better?

A more believable voice for the main character, Lacey. She is supposed to be a dental medical examiner, handling corpses and what is left of their teeth, yet she sounds like a whiney pre-teen on a lot of occasions. This is really apparent when talking to Jack, almost had to put the book down at times, but scooted over the unbearable parts instead. Then having that same voice using swear words was really pushing it.

Would you ever listen to anything by Kendra Elliot again?

I MAY be willing to try another book but the description would certainly have to sound exceptional for me to try another one and at a very low price as I would rather use my credits on someone I know I enjoy.

Would you be willing to try another one of Kate Rudd’s performances?

No, the performance was not believable at all, lacking emotion where there should be adult emotions shown, but there over the top and whiny at other times.

What character would you cut from Hidden?

I would cut Kelly, way too unbelievable in the situations she was supposed to have lived through. I would also cut Alex. He added nothing to the story and I am still trying to understand why he was even introduced into the story.

    Any additional comments?

It was an alright story, if there were not so many things that were not believable. I could go into them, but would have to give away too much of the story to those who may like it.

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

My grandmother or any elderly person who can relate to this type of scene. Well written in that, you can visualize what is happening, but so far fetched, it becomes silly. I bought this book on sale...but should not have bothered trying something new!

Would you ever listen to anything by Joanne Fluke again?

No, once was definitely enough of this style of story for me. I will watch for this author so I don't end up with another book that I cannot even get to the third chapter on...and even getting that far was torture.

Would you be willing to try another one of Suzanne Toren’s performances?

No, even the performance was most unenjoyable!

What character would you cut from Red Velvet Cupcake Murder?

Just could not get into the story right from the beginning, the recipes included in the story of a murder mystery....are you serious! That was the last straw! What do recipes for what they are serving at the party have to do with anything???

    Any additional comments?

Sometimes you step outside your comfort zone and are pleasantly surprised to find another author you enjoy.....and sometimes it does not pay...guess which one this was for me!

Would you listen to The Gods of Guilt again? Why?

No, the only reason I would listen to this again would be to find out the ending....which I already know. The narrator was not entertaining enough to make me want to hear it again. Prefer to hear more emphasis, and more of Mickeys southern drawl which makes him more believable. The slow mundane reading put me to sleep on more than one occasion. But the story kept me coming back.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I liked Earl, because he had a flair that added a little color to the story.

What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?

Explained in the first question's answer.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Yes, but don't want to give away any details to ruin it for others. I will say, after the car accident.

    Any additional comments?

Love the Mickey Haller stories and the way the author can have so many story lines going on in his head, and then bring them all together at the end to create such an interesting story. Very enjoyable.

Where does The Haunted rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I would rank this book as a three against all the books I have listened to, because it is not as realistic as some I have read. However in the thriller genre only list, I would list it as a four because of its entertaining thrill factor.

Who was your favorite character and why?

One character did not stand out from the rest. They all had their roles in the family and all had their secrets to uphold to protect the other family members.

Have you listened to any of Dan Butler’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

My first Dan Butler performance was well executed. He made it an enjoyable listen.

If you could rename The Haunted, what would you call it?

    YOU TELL....YOU DIE!

    Any additional comments?

I love thrillers that actually thrill! This one measured up and was exhillerating. You will love being pulled from scene to scene!

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

Someone who has an analytical mind and enjoys all that extra information and minute details on the scientific aspect of this story. I don't need the breakdown and results of tests that the ordinary person knows nothing about, just the results will do me just fine.

What was most disappointing about Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child ’s story?

Dragged on and on. It even bordered on a cyber story at one point. Became a little unbelievable when a formula that was supposed to be capable of taking out half the world, was able to be contained within a room with strong walls and security system

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

The reaction most sparked in me was boredom. I kept falling asleep and had to keep going back to see where I dosed off.

    Any additional comments?

A long suffering book that could have been a decent listen if it was shortened to just the main story line.
