Daniel Silva is absolutely and wonderfully addictive. Reading him is little eating candy it's that good. I have been totally taken by his hero, Gabriel Allon, since the first of the series. I am just delighted that Simon Vance is now -at long last! - narrating. Till now, I read Daniel Silva's books because I didn't like the narrator. Now, I can listen to Simon Vance read one of my favorite spy novels' writer.

Alison Willetts is unlucky to be alive. She has survived a stroke, deliberately induced by a skilful manipulation of pressure points on the head and neck. She can see, hear and feel and is aware of everything going on around her, but is completely unable to move or communicate. Her condition is called Locked-In Syndrome.

The book is good, the story is good but then again, when Simon Prebble narrates, I could listen to the DMV booklet or the medical encyclopedia. He is that good. Of course there is George Guidall and Simon Vance and John Lee and they are all awesome narrators but Simon Prebble? He is magical and, I found out, always narrates good to excellent books. So you can't go wrong choosing one of the hundreds of stories he has narrated.
Thank you for them all, Simon Prebble.

An antiques dealer robbed and killed, and the only clues are a scrap of blank paper and the unusual weapon used. Now ex-cop Zatopek "Zed" van Heerden has 14 days in which to fill in the blanks in this dead man's past - a past which only seems to begin in 1983.

Just, just wonderful. All of it. The story, the narration, the writing. Then again, Simon Vance could read the telephone book and I would listen. As for Deon Meyer, he is a very clever, informed, psychologically astute writer. All his books are great and all read by Simon Vance. You don't get better than that.

The end was horrible. And endless preaching speech by a would be pope/messiah.
Too bad really because 3/4 of the book were really, really good. It was a huge let down.
A chance George Guidall was narrating -one of the best narrators there is on Audible - or I would have stopped when the Jesus preaching began.

A Dark Redemption introduces DI Jack Carrigan and DS Geneva Miller as they investigate the brutal rape and murder of a young Ugandan student. Plunged into an underworld of illegal immigrant communities, they discover that the murdered girl's studies at a London College may have threatened to reveal things that some people will go to any lengths to keep secret.

    Story

The story is really good and David Thorpe, the narrator is good until he makes up different voices. Unlike, say, brilliant narrators such as Simon Prebble or Simon Vance or George Guidall, David Thorpe is really bad at doing voices. He should stick to his own voice, which is rather good and stop trying to modify it. It's so bad that it really gets in the way of the story, and that's sad because there is nothing wrong with just reading with one's own voice.
