Socks is one happy cat. He lives with a nice young couple called the Brickers who play with him, pet him, feed him treats, and always have a warm lap for him to sit in. Then a new baby joins the family. Suddenly, the Brickers are sharing their laps and love with Charles William, and Socks is getting into all sorts of trouble.

Really good book to listen to in the car with the family. My boys loved to hear this one over and over again. Great narration and, of course, great story about a cat and all his funny escapades in life from a kitten to the introduction of a new baby in the household.

Why we think it’s a great listen: The most celebrated performance in all of Audible’s history, The Help has nearly 2,000 5-star reviews from your fellow listeners. We hear the print book’s not bad, either. In pitch-perfect voices, Kathryn Stockett creates three extraordinary women whose determination to start a movement of their own forever changes a town, and the way women - mothers, daughters, caregivers, friends - view one another.

I love this story. Terrific writing. So funny and sad!

Narration: The maids, Minny and Abilene, have outdone themselves on their performance! Great story, but the narration makes it even better for Abilene and Minny. I can't even tell you how much I enjoyed Minny's parts. She sounds just like many women I have met in my lifetime. Skeeter is good, with a little too much Hollywood accent added in at times (Scarlett O'Hara was played by a British actress, people), but she does a great job otherwise.

When Barry Fairweather dies unexpectedly in his early 40s, the little town of Pagford is left in shock. Pagford is, seemingly, an English idyll, with a cobbled market square and an ancient abbey, but what lies behind the pretty façade is a town at war. Rich at war with poor, teenagers at war with their parents, wives at war with their husbands, teachers at war with their pupils.... Pagford is not what it at first seems. And the empty seat left by Barry on the town's council soon becomes the catalyst for the biggest war the town has yet seen.

Narrator - Very good (about the only good thing going for this book)

    Story - BLAH

I did not expect Hogwarts, but I surely did not expect this boring, choppy mess of adult thoughts and actions that are always negative. I haven't even finished this book yet. It is simply not something I would ever recommend. What was JK Rowling trying to do with this?
