Rachel Stone is a widow and single mother, broke and alone. Worse, her late husband, a televangelist, stole five million dollars, none of which came to her. Nor did she know about the theft, but it still makes her an outcast, and she is desperate. Then she meets Gabriel Bonner, who gives her a job. Romantic sparks fly, but love is never easy. Gabriel has a tragic loss of his own, and his family, fearing Rachel's motives, campaigns loudly against her.

Susan Elizabeth Phillips uses characters that you met in Nobody’s Baby But Mine for this novel. This one is less predictable, and I enjoyed every hour of it. Anna Fields is an excellent narrator. This is a romantic comedy with a little suspense thrown in.

Recently ordained minister Noah Kincaid is used to taking on new challenges, so he has no problem tackling the renovation of the long-abandoned Virgin River church. But that’s before he meets the stunningly beautiful—and stubbornly headstrong—Ellie Baldwin. She may not be exactly what Noah wants in an assistant, but she may be exactly what he needs.

"Male Characters flat - Interesting Plot"
    Overall

Robyn Carrs Virgin River series is full of unbelievable dialog spoken by straight male characters who talk to each other about their feelings and sex and babies. Yea right. Even in the romantic fiction genre, her male characters are flat and unbelievable. All this said I have enjoyed the series, and her plot lines keep you coming back for more.
