  • Four Friends

    • UNABRIDGED (12 hrs and 38 mins)
    • By Robyn Carr
    • Narrated By Therese Plummer
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

From number-one New York Times best-selling author Robyn Carr comes the story of four friends determined to find their stride. This honest look at marriage examines the challenges, heartaches, and sacrifices along with the joy in discovering what it means to be a wife, mother, friend, lover - and most important: your true self. Gerri can't decide what's more devastating: learning her rock-solid marriage has big cracks, or the anger she feels as she tries to repair the damage. Always the anchor for friends and her three angst-ridden teenagers, it's time to look carefully at herself.

ROBIN says: "Enjoyed the story and the characters"
    "Surprisingly deep"
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Absolutely. The characters are very real. They are dealing with real life issues in life, love and parenting. The ladies are there for each other and support each other during difficult times and to celebrate during the successes as true friends do.this story made me think, really think about my blessings, my relationships with my family and friends. I am a better person for having listened and thought about this story. I value each relationship all the more.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Four Friends?

BJ asserting herself with the ladies to look in on Sophie as she was spiraling downward in self destruction. She was fully aware and observant of another lady in trouble.

Have you listened to any of Therese Plummer’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

    This is my first

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No, I needed to think about each issue as it was presented.

  • Still Life with Bread Crumbs: A Novel

    • UNABRIDGED (6 hrs and 50 mins)
    • By Anna Quindlen
    • Narrated By Carrington MacDuffie
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Still Life with Bread Crumbs begins with an imagined gunshot and ends with a new tin roof. Between the two is a wry and knowing portrait of Rebecca Winter, a photographer whose work made her an unlikely heroine for many women. Her career is now descendent, her bank balance shaky, and she has fled the city for the middle of nowhere. There she discovers, in a tree stand with a roofer named Jim Bates, that what she sees through a camera lens is not all there is to life.

Jen says: "Exceeded My High Expectations"
    "Pleasant surprise"
What made the experience of listening to Still Life with Bread Crumbs the most enjoyable?

I loved how the main character unfolded as the story progressed. This story itself surprised me. There is nothing predictable about the general storyline.

What about Carrington MacDuffie’s performance did you like?

She was easy to listen to. He voices were natural and believable. They enhanced the storytelling.

  • Amy Falls Down: A Novel

    • UNABRIDGED (10 hrs and 32 mins)
    • By Jincy Willett
    • Narrated By Amy McFadden
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Amy Gallup is an aging novelist and writing instructor living in Escondido, California, with her dog, Alphonse. Since recent unsettling events, she has made some progress. While she still has writer's block, she doesn't suffer from it. She's still a hermit, but she has allowed some of her class members into her life. She is no longer numb, angry, and sardonic: she is merely numb and bemused, which is as close to happy as she plans to get. Amy is calm. So, when on New Year's morning she shuffles out to her backyard garden to plant a Norfolk pine, she is wholly unprepared for what happens next. Amy falls down.

Jessica and Will says: "Not contemporary fluff"
    "What a disappointment"
What would have made Amy Falls Down better?

The reviews about this book led me to believe it was funny and enjoyable. It was very difficult to connect with the characters, to follow the narrator and to follow the story line. 5 chapters in and I'm calling it a day and returning this book.

What do you think your next listen will be?

    Anything Fanny Flagg

How could the performance have been better?

The story telling could have been more dynamic and voices for characters could have been more distinct

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

    Any additional comments?

I will stick with authors I am familiar with or who come recommended by friends
