This sort of material is usually a little dry so the audio book was a perfect solution. The narrator has a light and animated voice which is easy to listen to when the material is a bit slow. However, the author does have a good number of anecdotes to illustrate his points which always helps.
I love long and complicated stories. I started on this because of the great reviews but the first volume was slow going. I'm willing to try the next one but I will not go on if it doesn't improve.
I never realized how much Hollywood had tarted up the plot line of this classic. Tim Curry's reading saved it for me. I would never have made it through reading it myself. That being said, the language and writing style were an entertaining change.
I can never keep all of Tom Clancy's characters straight but I enjoy the stories so much that I don't care. This was the closest I've ever come to following every plot point. Lou Diamond Phillips did an outstanding job with the accents, foreign phrases, and military jargon. I'll start looking for audio books with him as narrator.
This was not one of my favorites of Koontz's work. A bit too violent for my taste but it held my interest until the very end. I don't think I'll listen again but it was worth the money.
I love Pern! I've read all the books but wanted to revisit this enchanting place while I was convalescing from an illness. It was perfect. I think I would've preferred a female narrator because when I originally read the books I thought of them in a female voice. It was nice to hear all the names pronounced correctly as I often had no idea when I was reading them how they were meant to sound. This is a wonderful series. Read them all.
I always like a full cast production. It makes it easier to keep track of the characters and there are a lot of them here.
I had no idea where it was going. I'm still not sure if I really understood the last half. I will be listening to this again.
She did an excellent job of narration.I was able to keep track of all the characters in this far ranging book. I hope she does the other two as well.
I was prepared to hate this book. I am so tired of witches, vampires, and all the rest of their supernatural relatives. What a pleasant surprise! It was interesting, complex, and unpredictable. Count me in for the rest of the trilogy.
