K. Branagh renders this masterpiece its due - moves to my favorite performance of this great work.
The narrator is unworldly good and the voices are just like the show, but years before so I dont know how this happened, except possibly that the producers followed the audio book for the casting?
Its one of my all-time favorite books and everyone else I recommended it to loved it.
If you are not well read and you are not sure what to choose, know this; most people who are well read and lets say, are about to die, if given a choice of one book before going, might choose this book because its long and its THE masterpiece of writing and you would die after experiencing the highest form of human thought.
It took me over a month because I had to go back over and over to swim in it (tee hee).
The narrator performs as if he has been honored to do this genious work.
I discovered this narrator when I purchased Shantaram and thought so much of his performance, I purchsed The Power of One (didnt finish either of them) but thought Bryce Courtenay an excellent wirter and so read the reviews of The Potato Factory, and after I purchased The Potato Factory I spend all my nights listening and cried at the end but like a Heroin addict, I went on to my next fix in this magnificent Trilogy, Tomo & Hawk. The Potato Factory took him 20 yrs to write and it is an amazing read. Try the sample, read the reviews.
This production is a masterpiece. Author is obviously a genious with wit and a great sense of humor who can actually write! What a rare combination! This is my favorite audio book of all time, favorite author of all time, and favorite narrators of all time. This is a riot in audio due to the Aussie accent of the father and son narrators who got it just right. Buy this!!
I love this book, this writer, and this narrator who does great English accents ranging from lower class to upper class and his little boy with the Pakistan accent is really funny. Its well worth the purchase.
This book one of four is considered the best book ever written in the english language. The narrator brings each character to life with voices better than I could have imagined reading it myself. This is the only audio book Ive actually finished after going back over and over to make sure I had not missed anything.
