What fun! and a masterful narration job by Simon Vance. Already read the second installment and laughed out loud so many times. Chris Ewan is witty, funny and with great british self-deprecation that I so adore about that culture and oh go ahead and throw in a smudge of JD Salinger while your at it. Worth a list if you like to smile.
Read this now. This is loaded with the most up to date tactics, skills and techniques you need to deliver real value to your customers and your organization. One of the best investments you can make in yourself and your team.
Excellent and clever story and I could not put it down. Older woman who loses her husband gets illegally turned into a vampire as a major surprise to the mostly male vampire community. She has to find out what she while using her wits to survive. Very surprising story line with many characters including a few werewolves for good measure - the plot has a number of intriguing turns that are not too hard to follow and totally worth a listen. I got hooked on a whim and ended reading everything Connie has written. I am now an officially addicted fan! The reader is quite good and keeps you involved in the story.
If you liked the movies featuring Elizabeth I, starring Cate Blanchette, who gives a stellar performance, they you will totally appreciate getting the "true story". I was amazed at how the producers of that film simply took full editorial license, rewrote history and loaded it with a host of major inaccuracies! Shame on them! It was great to have such an established historian deliver robust research, yet presented in such a very entertaining way and combined with Davina Porter reading it (she also reads the Outlander series which is also terrific), Devina brings the characters and their quotes to life which, if you read this book, may seem a tad dry, but Devina injects life into Elizabeth's story and makes the characters and their challenges feel so very real. Thanks to both Alison Wier and Davina - an excellent combination. I am richer for having heard Elizabeth's story. On completion of this story, I wished that every young girl could know more about such a clever leader. This is just a must read and must listen if you are a fan of history. By the way, just before this book, I finished listening to Debrah Harness books in the All Souls Trilogy (Discovery of Witches and Shadow of Night), the latter has the key characters back in time in Elizabethan England. So much fun to go back and forth to see how the author pulls from the true history and weaves real details into her paranormal book. If you enjoyed the Harkness books, you will appreciate learning the true story of that time in history.Enjoy!
Jim Frangione who reads for JR Ward books is dreamy in this very good story. Necromancers, Witches, Psychics and a likable macho detective make for a great mystery. If you like JR Ward you should very much like this new series. It has a similar vibe but its got a very different world build that is well done. Its takes a few chapters to get into the story but stick with it - it gets very meaty. Makes me wish it was a movie. Standby, its good enough to be a strong visual story if it gets picked up.
Started out interesting but fell flat after the first half of the book. Nice narration by Sue Pitkin but even she could not save this story overall. After hearing the expression "God's Teeth!" for the 30th time, I almost had to jump to a different book. Not recommended unless you happen to enjoy a very slow story. If you enjoy historical romance read Diana Gabaldon and start with Outlander - simply amazing.
Some of the best dialogue in a romance I have ever read - a terrific story line and all wrapped up in a touching romance. This is a must read and an all time favorite!
Susannah spins an intriguing tale with strong character development that is highly entertaining. Also, the narrator, Angela Dawe, does an excellent job with the range of people. Living in a world where most humans have been vaccinated against a pandemic, it turns out that this is fatal for vampires. To answer this challenge, one vampire creates a utopia in Penton, AL with unvaccinated humans that he rescues from across the country and supports them through rehabs and other limiting life situations, then gives them the option to live in a small town with a positive supported community in exchange for blood.Top this off with a vampire national government that does not like this idea and other vampires that are attracted to building the community you have intrigue a strong love story all woven into a fast paced fun story. worth a credit? Totally!
Yes, there are a good bit of erotic scenes but is weaved as a relevant part of the story so if you are not comfortable with this then this story is not for you. But Laurell weaves a fantastic story - vivid characters come alive with very creative characters and scenes and the narrator totally brings it home. I could barely put it down. A really fun listen for P/R fans - totally worth a credit!
Liked the story a good bit but in a way, I now wish I had read it. The reader, Coleen Marlo, is very talented and solid however her accent of a Scotsman is truly wanting. It just does not work. I had to stop a few times slightly annoyed as Coleen goes totally out of character a good number of times and the editors missed a lot of mistakes where she goes out of accent and just marginally ok. Half the fun of Audible for me is to listen to the talented theatrics of a dynamic reader. If that is important to you - suggest you read this one. Also, if you adore great readers try Roslyn Landor(reading Lisa Kleypas books or others) or Jim Frangione (black dagger brotherhood series - outstanding) - just no, no no comparison.
Kerrelyn is very talented - some fun stories - would love to hear her books with another reader. Coleen is too - just not for a sexy Scotsman.
