Heir to the Empire was the very first book that ignited my passion for literature as a teenager. Imagine my disappointment when this wonderful book could only be found as an abridgment in audio format. Now, with the 20th anniversary, the fans are rewarded by an unabridged version of Heir to the Empire. I would highly recommend to anyone who has ever loved the Star Wars series, that they read/listen to this story. Fans of the SW saga will be delighted by the same level of action and intrigue Timothy Zahn placed into this book as George Lucas put into the series. Whether you are a life-long SW fan or new to the series, you will not be disappointed by this series. Hopefully, the fans will not have to wait too long for the rest of the Thrawn trilogy to be available in an unabridged format.
The interaction between the original characters was wonderful and true to the movies. The new characters were also marvelously developed and wonderfully complex. This book does indeed read like the 7th episode in the SW saga.
They may have defeated the Emperor and Darth Vader, but the Empire may not be as defeated as they think.
I would compare this book to series such as Dan Brown's Langdon series (Da Vinci Code, Angels & Demons, Lost Symbol) and any of the Indiana Jones movies with a military twist.
Yes! It was a little long to do so, but it was very difficult to find a stopping point.
The team is compiled of various members of the armed forces, all of whom are trained experts in various scientific fields and come from specialized fields of the military. Sigma Force's main enemy is the Guild, who is very reminiscent of Cobra from the GI Joe series. Sigma Force is trying to protect the country/world from the Guild, who is attempting to take control. Each book in this series is fast paced and a wild ride. This book will not disappoint the action/adventure fans and will tempt the mystery fans as well.
Absolutely! This book is great for teens and adults alike. Whether your a fan of novels about surviving a dystopian future, a lover of sci-fi action stories or just like a really good mystery, this book is for you. The only warning I would give is that this is the 2nd book in a trilogy, the first book is entitled "Divergent," and the last book isn't due out until Fall 2013. I would highly recommend a reader to read "Divergent" first, otherwise the plot might be a little hard to follow.
I liked getting the opportunity to learn more about the other factions. I also liked finding out more about Divergents and the mystery surrounding the factioned civilization in Chicago.
If you loved the Hunger Games, this series is for you! This is a great story for boys or girls, as well as youths or adults.
I absolutely love that this was a dramatization with the actual actors who play these roles narrating this audiobood. You could completely believe this was a missing episode. The dynamic between the actors in their roles was just as present audibly as it is visually on the TV screen.
This story is just as enthralling as any Torchwood episode the BBC aired. I didn't want to hit pause once on this story.
If you are a Janto fan... you do not want to miss this. If you just love the series pre-Exit Wounds, then you'll love this story as well. For Torchwood fans, this is well worth the time and money/credit spent.
