Yes, but first I would say they should read "Conversations with God", then I think they will understand this book better.
Yes, I always take something away that helps me.
Yes, most of them. I find it is easier to read them than to listen, especially because I am usually driving.
I wanted to race ahead, because it seemed that he took along time to get to the point. In a way this turned out to be a good thing. I realized I needed to hear everything to fully understand what he wanted me (us) to learn.
I listened to his first book on tape with Ellen Burstyn & Ed Asner and they were terrific !
An easier listen.
How the soul, mind & body are integrated, and how they work together. Why gratitude is an important part of enriching our life.
If you are searching for the meaning of why you are here, this can help you get a glimmer, maybe even get you to recognize what your path is.
I love Strike. He is a complicated, engaging hero. The story is fun and gives a panoramic setting to show the complexity of his character. His steady, reliable assistant is perfect contrast. The mystery has lots of fun twists and crazy interesting characters that gives the story it's fun and compelling read.
The reader is a perfect choice. With his messy gravely voice he gives depth and dimension to Strike's character, but he easily transforms to other female and male voices!
Can't wait for the next book!
A Wonderful Saga
I love Davina Porter! She is the MOST talented voice of all. The only close competion are the performances that have multiple readers.......
I love Jamie and Claire, they are true hero's. Sometimes it is hard to witness all the tough times (like real life), but then Jamie or Claire will sum it up in the most meaningful way. Diana Gabaldon paints the story in vivid descriptive colors. I always feel like I am an active observer (I just can't believe everyone doesn't just love these books). The author is very true to the historical times. *Like a lot of the other reviewers have mentioned it is much better if you have read the previous books. This is the reason I gave the story 4 stars instead of 5.
I enjoyed going back and forth in time. The author did a great job making the transitions easy to follow. All the main characters were interesting and easy to like.
The narrator was great. I thought that she made the story come alive and did not over act or go too fast. She was skillful in her inflections of the different voices and I was comfortable with her pace as she sucked me into the story's rhythm.
There was history, suspense and a bit of romance . It was a great listen.
The story was not so complicated that is was hard to follow, but interesting because of the two stories one in the present and one of the past. The author did a wonderful job tying them together.
The story and characters were wonderfully drawn. This book grabbed me from the beginning. A modern twist on an old theme, quirky contemporary love relationships.
You could see where the story was going but the characters where so compelling I loved listening. The narrator was perfect in the voices, the inflection and the timing.
All of it was good. I even loved the descriptions of the places that the characters traveled to.
His voice for Madelines mother was just so perfect. It conveyed her attitude and demeanor that I don't think I would have gotten just reading from the book.
This is not a book I would normally choose. My daughter highly recommended it,so I decided to listen just to see what she likes. It surprised me how much I liked it. I usually like mysteries and suspense or historical romance.
It is a typical "Highlander Romance", a subject I enjoy. So if you like historical romance with a good story it's a good bet you will like this book. The only thing I don't love about the romance genre on tape are the sex scenes, it often times sounds ridiculous. This wasn't so bad as some others I've listened to however.
Only if they like romance.
I thought she did a great job with her voice and the different characters.
Two narrators one for the female and one for the male voices.
I purchased all three of the books in this series when Audible had a sale so I only paid
$4.95 for each. It may be why I liked the books, they were a good listen at a great price.
The story was not bad but I just did not like the narrators voice. She sounded like an old woman. Her voice was not bad it just didn't fit with the story.
I love romance and non fiction self improvement books. It depends on my mood. I usually
listen to more than one book at a time, a non fiction and a fiction.
The characters were good but the story was just so so. The author could have made better dialog. That for me was main the weakness with this book.
I always like to listen to new ways of looking & solving problems. I really felt I got my credits worth with this book. I even bought the hardcover because I wanted to look up some of the suggestions and references. It is a book I will keep on my desk.
I really liked the stories told about Franklin and the corporate stories. They made their case for their decision making process. I am not in corporate or social science business, but I know this will help me in my personal life as well as business.
I liked his voice for this book. It was easy to listen to. Very smooth. I am glad he didn't rush or go fast because there are many points that need to "sink-in". I would listen to a book narrated by K. Griffith again
All the stories were so interesting and the fact that they are true just made it better.
Anyone wanting a "leg up" in business and the decision making process needs and should read this book. Now I want to listen to their other 2 books.
Very easy listen. I think you call it a "Beach Read"
I enjoyed the main characters. I like a strong female and a strong male. It makes for great
story telling. I like the flashing between the soap opera scenes and the regular story. I liked the chemistry between the two, but sometimes the story was even to corny for me.
Did not love narrator, but at least she was not irritating, her voices grew on me.
It was a nice story and I liked the little added mystery to the mix. I liked the characters more than the story. I drive back and forth from SF to LA and it was a perfect easy listen. It was just a bit better than OK. I would recommend it to romance readers who like a bit of sex thrown in but doesn't overwhelm the story.
Tragic & Compelling Characters
All the intrigue in King Henry's court.
Each woman has her own great moments that's what kept me listening.
The Boleyn Curse!
I love Kathryn Howard's private dialogues, I thought the Narrator was spot on.
I really love having multiple narrators, it gives the book so much more dimension.
