We live across the thousand dunes with grit in our teeth and sand in our homes. No one will come for us. No one will save us. This is our life, diving for remnants of the old world so that we may build what the wind destroys. No one is looking down on us. Those constellations in the night sky? Those are the backs of gods we see.

Entertaining and fun, fairly light scifi. The book brings you along at a good pace. The Narrator does a good job capturing the characters.

Libby Day was seven when her mother and two sisters were murdered in "The Satan Sacrifice of Kinnakee, Kansas". As her family lay dying, little Libby fled their tiny farmhouse into the freezing January snow. She lost some fingers and toes, but she survived, and famously testified that her 15-year-old brother, Ben, was the killer. Twenty-five years later, Ben sits in prison, and troubled Libby lives off the dregs of a trust created by well-wishers who've long forgotten her.

Let me first say that I liked the book very much, it is a very dark story and gets darker as you go. The story is a mystery that keeps you thinking and guessing and engaged like many good mystery's. It's just that the story surrounds a very nasty violent crime and it's from the point of view of a young girl that lost everyone. This book is very different than Gone Girl however I liked it just as much (My wife disagrees with me, the book was a bit too dark for her)

Winner of the 1961 Hugo Award for Best Novel and widely considered one of the most accomplished, powerful, and enduring classics of modern speculative fiction, Walter M. Miller’s A Canticle for Leibowitz is a true landmark of 20th-century literature—a chilling and still-provocative look at a postapocalyptic future.

I will say, the book left me scratching my head but I did like the story. This book is not for everyone it is not a story that is easy to follow. The writer leads you into corners that are bewildering, you'll find yourself thinking "What?" However there is a poetry in the writing that kept me going through out the book. A post apocalyptic tale that spans century's and illustrates a somewhat cynical view of a violent humanity that is destined to repeat its mistakes over and over again.

Art critic Jeremy Grove is found dead, his face frozen in a mask of terror. His body temperature is grotesquely high; he is discovered in a room barricaded from the inside; the smell of brimstone is everywhere... and the unmistakable imprint of a claw is burned into the wall. As more bodies are discovered - their only connection the bizarre but identical manner of death - the world begins to wonder if the Devil has, in fact, come to collect his due.

Once again an engaging well researched and fast paced book. I haven't been reading the series in order of publishing but it's worked just fine, each book stands well on it's own including Brimstone. This book brings you right to the edge of your seat and holds you there white knuckled for hours. The ending is gratifying and leaves the reader wanting another tale of Agent Pendergast.

On the world called Hyperion, beyond the law of the Hegemony of Man, there waits the creature called the Shrike. There are those who worship it. There are those who fear it. And there are those who have vowed to destroy it. In the Valley of the Time Tombs, where huge, brooding structures move backward through time, the Shrike waits for them all.

Great story, fairly complex but it flows well and keeps you engaged. The book is made up of several stories that support the main theme. The only complaint is the ending, there is no conclusion. Without the following book the reader would be left with a quite unfinished story however having just read the second book in the series I have to say the books are great and I think you should read them if you like sci-fi books.

In The Wind Through the Keyhole, Stephen King has returned to the rich landscape of Mid-World. This story within a story within a story finds Roland Deschain, Mid-World’s last gunslinger, in his early days during the guilt-ridden year following his mother’s death. Sent by his father to investigate evidence of a murderous shape-shifter, a "skin-man", Roland takes charge of Bill Streeter, a brave but terrified boy who is the sole surviving witness to the beast’s most recent slaughter.

A great story with-in a story with-in a story. I felt that the book would have been better without having tried to tie it into the Gun Slinger series. It seems to me that making this A Gun Slinger book is an attempt to gather readers. I don't think that this book adds anything to the story of Roland and his clan. All that being said I did enjoy the story a great deal. I personaly would prefer that Stephen King stick to the writing and stay away from the narration, it wasn't bad but I think that another narrator could have made a better performance. My review has some negative points but again I really liked the book and think that it's well worth the scratch, a great listen.
