If you think a gang of real-life geeks can't take on the world and win big...think again. And whatever you do, don't sit down across a gaming table from Jon Finkel, better known as Jonny Magic. Jonny Magic and the Card Shark Kids is his amazing true story: the jaw-dropping, zero-to-hero chronicle of a fat, friendless boy from New Jersey who found his edge in a game of cards and turned it into a fortune!

    "Loved it!"
    Overall

Very absorbing tale of a unique character. Jonny is very engaging and many will find something of themselves in him and relate to his story. It gave me some insights into the mind of my own game loving teenage son.

Whether you know anything about the games or not this true story will keep you listening right through to the end nonstop.

Where does Speaks the Nightbird rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This is my first listen to Mr. Ballerini and I'm putting him on my list of favorites. I can't imagine that this listen would have been as enjoyable with any other narrator. Bravo!

"If Robert Littell didn't invent the American spy novel," says Tom Clancy, "he should have." In this spectacular Cold-War-as-Alice-in-Wonderland epic, Littell, "the American le Carre," takes us down the rabbit hole and into the labyrinthine world of espionage that has been the CIA for the last half-century. "Ostensibly a single novel, The Company can also be listened to as an anthology of cracking good spy stories," says (Publishers Weekly).

    Any additional comments?

I enjoyed the story although it was a bit too long. However, the narrator was very boring and made listening tedious.

When Lyra and her daemon Pantalaimon decide to spy on a presentation her uncle, the commanding Lord Asriel, is making to the elders of Jordan College they have no idea that they will become witnesses to an attempted murder, and even less that they are taking the first steps in a journey that will lead them into danger and adventure unlike anything Lyra's unfettered imagination has conjured up.

    "Pullman is a great storyteller"
    Overall

A thoroughly enjoyable experience, this story is populated with a cast of marvelous characters and this audio version has a great cast of readers.
I recommend it to everyone from 8 to 80.

Simply stated...the book is definitely better than the movie.
