I never got into this one. I was really eager to start it and the story was interesting but something was gone from the old Harry Bosch. He actually gets along with his boss in this book which is the first time I believe. THe Chinese dialogue by the narrator was not very good. That I believe was the main problem I had with the book. Since it is Connelly and Bosch I would recommend it, but to me it was not the usual Connelly "couldn't put down" quality.
This book grabs you from the beginning and is a "can't put down" from that point on. Although the plot was somewhat improbable, the writing and narration kept you totally interested throughout. Virgil Flowers is at this best in this one.
I was very anxious to listen to this book after First To Kill. Unforutnately, it left me pretty dry. First I just cant find Nathan McBride very exciting. Second the narrator is horrible especially when he tries female voices. Peterson missed the boat by not developing his villan a little more. Had he done so I think I would have been more involved in the story. Although I finished the book, I was anxious for the end.
This is it. I have listened to all the Vince Flynn books and if we had 10 stars this would be it. I only wish there were more Vince Flynn books to listen to. Whatever you do, don't miss this one.
Virgil Flowers is at it again. If you are a fan of Flowers then this will be one of your favorites. Interesting throughout. A very good listen.
Excellent book, exciting from beginning to end. You will not be disappointed in this book. Vince Flynn is without a doubt the best at bringing a story together and keeping your interest all the way through.
I am a huge Demille fan and anxiously downloaded this book based on past books and the excellent ratings this book had received. Quite honestly it was one of the more disappointing and boring Demille books I have listened to. As usual, Demille rambles and appears to be inserting nothing more than filler for pages. It took 10 hours of listening before you discovered the direction of the book. The hero, John Corey came off with his sarcastic nature as a 12 year old trying to play detective. I always find this hard to swallow and extremely irritating. The direction of the story was just down right not believeable. There were too many holes that just didn't fill in for me. The narrator Scott Brick is in my opinion one of the poorest narrators you can listen to. Every sentence seems to end with an exclamation! That are many better Demille books than this one. Save your credit.
In this book Michael Connelly combined two of his most exciting characters with Harry Bosch and Mickey Haller. The book quickly established the plot and remained exciting with both characters throughout. I would love to see more of this combination in future books. This was definitely a 5 star book but the narrator was absolutely terrible which reduced it to 4 stars for me. His inability to alter his voice for the characters required a very close and concetrated listen. Please don't spoil future books by allowing a marginal narrator to present it.
This book was very interesting and entertaining. The characters were great and kept my interest throughout. I highly recommend this one.
Once again David Rosenfelt has written a winner. When you listen to a book where a lawyer is defending a dog you wonder how the author can possibly make this interesting. Rosenfelt is a master. The characters are entertaining and the story believeable and interesting. If you would like to be entertained then this book is a must.
I purchased this book based on the reviews as "Like Vince Flynn"! Unfortunately it was not. The story is one that you could see happening to our country. Unfortunately the hero's were not very exciting or believeable. The book starts so slow that I almost abandoned it. Then as it moves to the middle the action picks up and grabbed my interest. The last third of the book found me anxious for it to end. I just could not buy into the hero, he just was not very believeable.
