Two Christian parenting educators describe five ways we can connect with our children: physical touch, quality time, words of affirmation, gifts, and acts of service. These initiatives, when geared to the preferences of each child, make them feel loved and, thus, more receptive to guidance and redirection when needed. The authors are inspiring writers whose examples and quotes from children and parents are instructive.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I have recommended it to my friends because we are therapist and we have kids. There are many instances when therapist kids get left out because we are saving others. We have to remember our own kids need us too.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Five Love Languages of Children?

I like how I can identify my son in the illustrations and just trying things small as they may seem made huge differences in our relationship.

What about Chris Fabry’s performance did you like?

It was good. I was just used to hearing the audiobook from the 5 Love Languages it was hard to wrap the idea that the voice changed. I got hung up on "that's not how he sounds." But Chris did a good job just not what I expected when I started.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I did but I drive when I listen so it not always possible. It is better when i don't have to break it up.

What happens when a young child is traumatized? How does terror affect a child's mind---and how can that mind recover? Child psychiatrist Bruce Perry has treated children faced with unimaginable horror: genocide survivors, witnesses to their own parents' murders, children raised in closets and cages, the Branch Davidian children, and victims of family violence. In The Boy Who Was Raised as a Dog, he tells their stories of trauma and transformation.

If you could sum up The Boy Who Was Raised as a Dog in three words, what would they be?

A supervisor gave this book to me when I was an intern. I started reading it back then but never had time to finish. The Audiobook made it real and accessible. Amazing work that has been done for children and families by Dr. Perry. Really touched me and inspired me to work harder for my clients.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Every story seemed to reach parts of thoughts that moved me and helped me recognize where I can improve my care. I would say the title case study was one of the shortest although meaningful there are some great cases in this book.

Where does The Power of a Whisper rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I believe this to be one of my top books to listen to. It truly spoke to me and I just embraced it I mostly listen to it on my drives between sites and it was hard to pull away from God's message was coming through.

What other book might you compare The Power of a Whisper to and why?

I'm not sure at this point.

Have you listened to any of Scott Brick’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No, but I liked his voice it was a good tone and flow easy to listen to.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

So many I had to buy the paperback for my wife cause she's the visual reader I'm more auditory listener.
