I really liked this book. I don't typically read fantasy so I was a little hesitant about this book but I really liked it. The characters were well developed and I wanted to hear their stories. I liked the way all the characters were intertwined. It was very well written.
When the Jinni went back home.
The scenes where the Jinni and the Golem were discovering life in the city and seeing everything for the first time.
This was my favorite daily deal so far. It was a really good short story. I enjoyed it and am glad I bought it.
This book was predictable and cliché. It was described as "sexy," but I just found it kind of dirty. I fat forwarded through a lot of it and I'm not a prude. It just didn't add to the story at all and it was like a hormonal teenager was describing the sex scenes. That said, the rest of the story was decent. I liked seeing how the characters dealt with grief and pain and love and forgiveness.
This story was fine. Nothing exciting but it was kind of interesting. The narrator did a good job. That's all
Yes, I think this was a good story that showed how the modern world and big companies effect other populations of people, like the remote tribe in the story. It also shed light on why it is so important to protect those people and not just tell the world about their findings.
Dr. Eckman. She was a great character who did everything in her power to protect the people of the tribe she was working with. She understood the importance of not interfering with their ways.
She was able to bring the characters to life in a way that probably wouldn't have happened if I were reading it in print. You were able to get the emotions of the characters as the author intended.
I'm not sure. I think it's fine.
A sequel? There has to be one.
I did not read the print version.
I liked the character development. I thought you really got to know each character individually. Even if their story wasn't that compelling, you felt like you knew them.
I liked that it kept me on my toes the entire time trying to figure out what was going on.
The little sister and everything about her was memorable. That and the wild animals.
I thought the story was really interesting and it kept me guessing until the end about what was going on. Although what actually happened was shocking and horrible, I was hoping/thinking it would be something deeper and more sinister.
No, I'm not really one for listening to books, or reading them, more than once.
Langdon, as always. But the characters in the book with him were great too.
I thought he did all the characters well. Nothing about his performance was distracting from the story.
Yes! I listened every chance I got because I wanted to know what would happen next. This was a great story.
I found myself half agreeing with the villain in this story. Once I found out his motives, I couldn't help but see why he thought he was doing something good.
I might listen to it again. I think he talked about a lot of things that I might gain more from if I were to listen again.
I think the most compelling thing is just how illogical religion and god are and how he demonstrates that. If you can listen to it and really think about it without getting emotional, you can see how illogical it all is.
It was interesting having two readers to clearly distinguish between the author's words and others'.
No. I found myself agreeing with so many things he had to say. I was surprised actually how much I agreed. It's scary to not believe in god or religion when you grow up in a world where so many people believe so strongly and think that without religion you're less of a person. It was nice to hear from someone who has put a lot of thought in to it and made very intelligent and logical arguments.
Weirdly charming bool
Yes, I would be willing to try another. She did a good job of getting the reader/listener to relate to characters that were way out there.
I have not, so I can't compare. But I thought she was a great narrator.
Ollie. The main character. You got to know her best and could see everything from her point of view.
This book was not what I expected. I was expecting more of a love story and a kind of a twisted sort of fairytale. I guess in a way it was that. It was an interesting story for sure.
