Nell Hawthorne is in love with her life-long best friend, Kyle Calloway. Their young love is invincible and life is full of promise; then one night Kyle dies suddenly in a tragic accident and Nell is forever changed. She meets Kyle's older brother, Colton, for the first time at the funeral. They both struggle to move on with life as best they can. Years later, they meet again in New York City, and Colton realizes that Nell has never really gotten over Kyle's death. She seems to be harboring a deeply rooted pain, a heavy weight of guilt, and regret. He knows he shouldn't get involved, but he can't help himself.

    3.5 stars.
I enjoyed this one, but I didn't. It's hard to explain. It was dark and even when the HEA comes about, I still didn't feel peace and satisfaction. I guess I don't feel like the H/h are really happy but are just coping. Kind of co-dependents of pain and hiding pain.

The book starts with a scene with Nell and her boyfriend Colton Calloway. then a blast to past takes us to young Nell, and her best friend Kyle Calloway (Colton's younger brother)...and I thought "Uh oh".
So the love story started in high school. It was very emotional, sweet and sad. But like I said, I don't feel satisfied or at peace with where they are emotionally.

The narration was good and the song at the end was sweet.

Lacey Terwilliger's shock and humiliation over her husband's philandering prompt her to add some bonus material to Mike's company newsletter: stunning Technicolor descriptions of the special brand of "administrative support" his receptionist gives him. The detailed mass e-mail to Mike's family, friends, and clients blows up in her face, and before one can say "instant urban legend", Lacey has become the pariah of her small Kentucky town and a media punch line....

This story took up to 8hrs before the plot really unfolded. The narrator didn't make the story better. It was just a slow build up and it didn't reach a peak for me. I will try book 2 because there is potential in the plot.

The narrator was dry and didn't add anything to this weak beginning. I want to read book 2 because there's potential.

There’s nothing worse than a cruel, cunning enemy with time to kill - and my murder to plan. With wicked Fire elemental Mab Monroe long gone, you’d think I could finally catch a break. But someone’s always trying to take me down, either as Gin Blanco or my assassin alter-ago. Now along comes the Spider’s new arch-nemesis, the mysteriously named M. M. Monroe, who is gleefully working overtime to trap me in a sticky web of deceit.

I loved this audiobook and I am amazed at how Jennifer Estep keeps the quality of the story topnotch though we are in the double digits in the series. I will admit that Madeline Madga Monroe turned out to be a much weaker version of Mab. How disappointing. But she did give Gin all she could handle.

We still got to see all of our favorite characters both good and bad. What excites me the most is that I have no idea what the author has in store for us next. We know the Ashland underworld will raise a champion tasked to take out the Spider, but whom? what? how? and where will they engage our deadly assassin? I can't wait for the next book.

With panic and intolerance spreading and streets becoming littered with the Order's propaganda, hostility between Humans and Therians grows daily. Dex and Sloane, along with the rest of the team, are determined to take down the Order and restore peace, not to mention settle a personal score. But the deeper the team investigates the bombings, the more they believe there's a more sinister motive than a desire to shed blood and spread chaos.

Book 1 felt like a probation period for Dex. This book saw Dex embraced as a member of The THIRDS. It also saw Dex and Sloane trying to figure out what exactly they were doing with each other.

Favorite audiobook moment was Cael telling Sloan about Dex and the Vaccum. Funniest scene EVER. I kept rewinding it and laughing. Excellent rendition by the narrator. I read some reviews where Dex's humor annoyed those readers but it's because Dex hides a lot behind jokes, laughter and a jovial personality. It's his coping mechanism with life's hurts and he has had a lot of hurts.

Given the drama with these two, I certainly see why fraternizing with co-workers is frowned upon. It has brought tension to the workplace and it clouds judgment. I also wonder how the people tasked with protecting society can't tell everyone in their organization is boinking their partner.

I am impressed with the writing because it is full of humor and the world building is good. I look forward to book 3 and more about the vigilante group. Face it, the tide didn't turn until the vigilantes got involved, so I actually like them. I will wait for the audiobook Jan 2015.

I enjoy the narrator and the job he is doing.

I had avoided this book because many reviews said it was heartbreaking. I guess what I saw was hope. The other side of tragedy when people start picking up the pieces of their lives. The book was written really well. It wasn't overly sappy and it wasn't too fluffy. It have a great flow and great pace. Once I started, I didn't stop listening to it until it finished.

I loved little Polly. Somehow she saw the capacity for love in Mallory and she grabbed onto it hard. It was so sweet watching the shell that both Mallory and Pete formed around themselves develop crack after crack, until the shells shattered. Love and acceptance is the ultimate Christmas gift and that is what this book was about. The second chance at happiness made this book heartwarming, not heartbreaking. It was a great book to read on New Year's Eve. I felt like I was transported to Mimosa Lane and was a part of the story. I look forward to reading some more books in this series.
