Montmorency is a great little story that is told by Stephen Fry whose voice add an extra dimension. The story is captivating on its own but Stephen Fry's beautiful voice brings it alive in a way that makes it hard to stop listening. Well worth a listen!

Hiccup was a Viking hero - dashing, brave and ever so clever. But even Viking heroes have to begin somewhere. In this riproaring adventure he recounts his early days - when he still had a lot to learn about swordfights, shipwrecks, and homicidal dragons.

The town psychiatrist has decided to switch everybody in Pine Cove, California, from their normal antidepressants to placebos, so naturally - well, to be accurate, artificially - business is booming at the local blues bar. Trouble is, those lonely slide-guitar notes have also attracted a colossal sea beast named Steve with, shall we say, a thing for explosive oil tanker trucks.

  • Lamb: The Gospel According to Biff, Christ's Childhood Pal

    • UNABRIDGED (15 hrs and 20 mins)
    • By Christopher Moore

    (1268)
    Story
    (1277)

Verily, the story Biff has to tell is a miraculous one, filled with remarkable journeys, magic, healings, kung fu, corpse reanimations, demons, and hot babes. Even the considerable wiles and devotion of the Savior's pal may not be enough to divert Joshua from his tragic destiny. But there's no one who loves Josh more (except maybe "Maggie," Mary of Magdalan) and Biff isn't about to let his extraordinary pal suffer and ascend without a fight.

Great execution of a great idea. A wonderful book that will be with you for a while after you have stopped laughing out loud.

Which character – as performed by Fisher Stevens – was your favorite?

Biff, hands down, the best friend anyone can have.

The lives of the inhabitants of Swevenings are disrupted only by a fierce competition to catch the Old Un, a monster trout known to dwell in a beautiful stream which winds past their homes. Then one of their small community is found brutally murdered; beside him is the freshly killed trout. Both died by violence - but Chief Detective Inspector Roderick Alleyn's murder investigation seems to be much more interested in the fish.

Would you listen to Scales of Justice again? Why?

I would listen to it 10 times just to hear Benedict Cumberbatch read. His voice is wonderful. The story is excellent, old England as we all imagine it to be (well, not with a murderer, but the rest).

What about Benedict Cumberbatch’s performance did you like?

His voice is amazing and keeps you coming back for more.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

In July 1890, Vincent van Gogh went into a cornfield and shot himself. Or did he? Why would an artist at the height of his creative powers attempt to take his life... and then walk a mile to a doctor's house for help? Who was the crooked little "color man" Vincent had claimed was stalking him across France? And why had the painter recently become deathly afraid of a certain shade of blue? These are just a few of the questions confronting Vincent's friends who vow to discover the truth of van Gogh's untimely death.

Would you consider the audio edition of Sacre Bleu to be better than the print version?

I love Christopher Moore and in some ways this was a typical Christopher Moore, just not quite as quirky as some of this other ones. That said, this is pretty quirky and Euan Morton does a fantastic job narrating the book. Well worth listening to!

What was one of the most memorable moments of Sacre Bleu?

The narrators voice - perfect fit for the story.

What does Euan Morton bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

His narration is excellent, I am going to search for more books read by him now.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No. This was a book I enjoyed listening to as I travelled to and from work over a week.
