TAKEN is a compilation of 6 novellas, 3 from the Tempting SEALs series (volumes 1, 3 and 6), 1 from the Elite Ops series (very short 1.5) and 2 from the Wounded Warrior series (1 and 2-not sure if there are more). They are companions to the TS and EO series, so they might be confusing if you're not familiar with them, assuming you care about the plot line. As always, it's Lora Leigh, so if you have a problem with hot sex, kinky sex, lots of sex and alpha males who say what they mean and what they want while using raunchy language, this is not for you.

    Tempting SEALs Series:
1-RENO'S CHANCE: Reno Chavez pursues Raven MacIntyre in this novella that introduces the series and precedes book 2, DANGEROUS GAMES in which Morganna (Reno's little sister) and Clint (Raven's big brother) need to work together while Clint tries to avoid his BFF's sister and his sister's BFF who has tempted him for years with her hot body and sweet disposition...sure.
3-FOR MAGGIE'S SAKE: Follow up drama in the wake of DG where we find out more about the history and future of Joe and Maggie prior to moving on to books 4 and 5 (HIDDEN AGENDAS and KILLER SECRETS) where Kell and Ian, respectively, lose their hearts to the women made for them and take the series further into the goings on of the drug-cartel-leading, torturing, murdering and sex-slaving all around bad guy, Diego Fuentes. Mwahahahaha.
6-ATLANTA HEAT: Poor Macey, the super hot computer whiz, is not about to be the left single and happily bachelorified if Emerson, the Admiral's goddaughter, has anything to say about it. This novella rounds out the end of the TS series while leaving the evolution of the team and their families open for more exciting opportunities for further adventure.

    Enter Elite Ops Series:
It all starts with book 1, WILD CARD, where we witness the destruction from the demons of Nathan Malone/Noah Blake in the aftermath of his torture by Fuentes and the hard road back to the light with the help of a good woman. We also are introduced to a new team of "dead men" which is partially comprised of and backed up by our old friends, the Durango Team, from the TS series above.
1.5-NIGHT HAWK is more of a prologue to book 2, MAVERICK, where the past comes back to haunt the teams when one of Diego's kidnap victims from the past is targeted again.
As of this review, books 3, 4 and 5 and novella 6 (HEAT SEEKER, BLACK JACK, RENEGADE and HANNAH'S LUCK) are not available on Audible, and this makes me very, very sad. However, the final book- 7 LIVE WIRE, in which Jordan Malone finally accepts he has met his match is available now. mm-hmm

    Wounded Warriors:
1-Cooper's Fall and 2-Sheila's Passion are both set in Texas and involve ex-military men but have no crossover to TS or EO. Still, they're entertaining short stories and worth the listen.

The narrator is different than in the full novels, so the voices are not the same, but I think she did a decent job--no glaring problems I remember but also no praises to sing. My preference for the other narrator is most likely that I am more used to her than that JD was lacking in any way.

Definitely worth a credit-12 hours of solid entertainment. It is SO great to have these tie-ins to the series in one book and DEFINITELY nice that I don't have to cough up a credit or cash for each short story. Hopefully, this will become a trend and other series that have shorties will combine them like this. Now, I will wait/hope for the missing Elite Ops books to be produced quickly so I can listen to them in order.

This Colorado Mountain Series is another great one from KA. Having experienced both the Rock Chick and Dream Man series, I wasn't sure this would do it for me, but it absolutely did. As expected, there is a lot of action, including a broken engagement, a murder mystery, rape, suicide, loss of loved ones, past traumas and relationship baggage, all in the middle of ongoing danger and, of course, a very sweet love story with interesting supporting characters and side plots. Both the H and h are very likeable characters on their own, but they definitely bring out the best in each other when they're together.

Emma Taylor does an absolutely outstanding job telling this story in a way that, had I read the printed book, I would definitely prefer the audiobook. She seamlessly flows from a woman with a British accent to a gruff mountain man to a Colorado young girl to a snotty British whiner with an ease that is truly applause-worthy. She also narrates the next book in the series, Sweet Dreams, in which her performance is equally flawless. I can't wait for the rest of the series to be recorded and released. Definitely worth a credit, especially when you take the length into consideration, not a slow spot in the whole listen.

I love this entire series, but I know some people didn't care for the "weaker" heroines in the series. Even if I just described you, I think you will love Ally and Ren. This last installment has a LOT going on, even more so than the previous books, and I would say that they all have mostly non-stop, fast-paced, action/drama with a perfect amount of humor. This has one of my favorite Rock Chicks matched up with what may well be my absolute favorite hot guy of all time. There's obviously relationship drama between Ren and Ally, and while Ally is slightly clueless about her hot guy (as per usual Rock Chick form), her insecurity is well-founded, and thankfully, that is resolved pretty early on in the book. I like that she recognizes when she is wrong and is repentant about the trouble that caused. (What I'm saying is that she isn't a woman who just thinks she ain't all that and is a "pain in the ass" until Duke can finally "sort her out" a few chapters after you wanted to slap her and tell the guy to move on because he can do better.) Ren is definitely an alpha male, but unlike some of the Hot Bunch, he uses his "a-hole speak" sparingly and for good reasons, then cools down, reflects, apologizes if necessary and supports his woman no matter what. He loves Ally with no conditions, even when he really wants to insist on some. Oh yeah, Ren, BEST. GUY. EVER.

DRAMA: Ally wants to go into the "family business," but there's a lot of resistance. Rosie's back and brings trouble. Indy and the RC's are not happy with Little Miss Spill keeping secrets. The Rock Chick books are starting to be published, and hot-guy, macho-man badasses are NOT amused. Mr. Kumar needs help in the 'hood. Ren has family business problems of his own. There are weddings to be planned, and Todd is on-edge. Smithie's got troubles. Someone has a very creepy interest in Ally. And then, there's Darius.

If you liked the series, you will not be disappointed in the final book. The epilogue is awesome and promises that we will see at least some of these characters again, hopefully in the near future. Narrator is great for this series. 17 hours flew by. I laughed and smiled as usual, and I did actually tear up at the end because it's sad that it's over. For me, the Revolution is that I want to go back and start the ride all over again. SO SO SO worth the credit!

This installment of the BDB, like most, has a LOT going on. The main focus is on Wrath and Beth and a back story of the elder Wrath and his queen. The laws and paperwork required to lead the race, Wrath's role in doing so, his desire to do so and his continuing growth as a male, a mate and as king are all part of the story, and there is not as much action movie material as some of the others, but there are also the continuing sagas of Assail/Sola, Xscore/Layla and Tres/Selena. Wrath and Beth also have struggles with each other and with those who want Wrath out because of his choice in queen.

I've seen some negative reviews, and the complaints seem pretty superficial. If you are one of those people who 1- don't care about any new characters other than the brothers or 2- like to complain about about the few (true and funny) pop culture references and/or 3- have nothing better to do than denigrate the hard work of an author who has provided you and others with a large quantity of great entertainment, pick up Pride and Prejudice, re-read it often, and have a nice life.

Those who love the series will not be disappointed in this one. Absolutely worth a credit or the cash.

In Hidden Agendas by Lora Leigh, tough-as-nails Navy SEAL Kell Kreiger is the best there is at searching, rescuing, and taking no prisoners…yet even the rush of ever-more dangerous missions isn’t enough to satisfy him. Haunted by a tortured past, Kell seeks distraction in a secret world of dark intimacies. But when Emily Stanton, the one ray of light in Kell’s shadowy existence, is pursued by a ruthless drug lord, the rules of the game suddenly change - and Kell will have to go deeper undercover than he ever imagined....

This Tempting SEALs series is chronologically before the Elite Ops series. Durango team is backup for Elite Ops, though some of Durango do move into Elite Ops, and these are their stories. Having read them in print (rare for me because I DO NOT make time to read actual text often), I HIGHLY recommend both series completely, preferably to be read in order. Not sure why the releases are all over the place in terms of 1, 2 and 5 of Elite and then 2 and 4 of TS, but hopefully they will all eventually end up recorded as audiobooks and soon.

These are standard Lora Leigh, so there is definitely hot sex on the menu, but these are not like some of her more superficial reads. There is love, loss, fear, hope, rebellion, forgiveness, lots of action and betrayal. I am a huge fan of the Black Dagger Brotherhood series, and these 2 series have a lot of the same appeal for me, in that you get to know the many characters better and understand more as you read each book (which is why it really is unfortunate that they are not being released in order, but I already said that).

This one is all about Kell Krieger, super hot bad boy tough guy, and Emily Stanton, the overprotected but not-so-sheltered daughter of a senator. Kell's job is to protect Emily when drug lord, Diego Fuentes, and other baddies threaten to kidnap her AGAIN, years after she endured a hellish ordeal at their hands in which she was rescued by Kell and his team. Emily is a good heroine in that she is not whiny or helpless, and Kell has some interesting baggage to work through with his family and past. There is also some good info on Nathan Malone and Ian Richards who turn up later in the Elite Ops series and even more about Ian (and Kira) in the next TS installment which I sincerely hope will be out super soon because, while this doesn't really end on a cliffhanger, it does make you want to keep going to get to the "what happens now?" And I can tell you that what happens is pretty exciting and DEFINITELY WORTH A CREDIT, as is this one and all the others in these 2 series which are really more like one series in 2 parts (Durango Team and Elite Ops).

Until they are all on Audible, I can suggest getting the missing books on Kindle through Amazon. Here's the reading order from LL's website:

Another damsel in distress seeks protection from a smokin'-hot, big, strong alpha male. Was that a complaint? No, not at all. While all of the books in this series are HOT and steamy, this one is a little tamer in some ways. This one is not about how the woman needs to either change her perceptions and accept that her man must have her his way or hit the highway, and I liked that it was more of an emotion-driven book with great sex than a sex-driven book with some emotions thrown in as accessories. Not that those types of books don't have their time and place, but I guess I was more in the mood for this one right now.

I have been waiting for Tyler to have a HEA since Delicious. When his old "friend," Delaney, shows up on his front door with some heavy personal drama and in imminent danger, Tyler mans up and deals. They have a short period of time to get over their past hurts and trust each other in order to survive the mess Delaney has found herself in. Their connection is still there, and that leads them down the right road, mostly. I was interested in the interactions with the couples from the previous books and the foreshadowing of the next one which I will automatically put in the cart.

Again, this is a great series. It's very well-written, and Lexi Maynard is fast becoming one of my favorites to listen to.

First off, yes, a combination Irish/Boston accent is difficult to imagine and must've been a nightmare to perform. I like to imagine Molly Harper came up with that because Amanda Ronconi lost a bet or she just wanted to mess with her. It is weird, and distracting, at first, but if you can stick with it for a little while, it's worth the first few minutes of furrowed brow. Truthfully, in a situation where the author creates a crazy accent, I would have preferred it to be performed without any accent at all because, while the main character is likeable, the accent is rather off putting, and I can't imagine wanting to spend much time in her company, but that is in no way AR's fault. She did it how it was written, and again, you do get used to it.

As for the rest, it was great to visit Half Moon Hollow again and see how everyone is doing. As usual, this was hysterical and entertaining like all of MH's books, and I actually did laugh out loud (as much as I despise the overuse of that description and it's irritating abbreviation). Mama Ginger cracks me up. I also loved the references about reading a romance about werewolves in Alaska and that creepy, stalking Edward guy in Twilight. Every one of her books is loaded with entertainment and fun, and this one does not disappoint....much....at least not enough to matter.

I'm a bit surprised that some feel cheated and ripped off that this is NOT the last in the Eva and Gideon saga, but I for one am thrilled that there are at least 2 more books to follow. I love the subplots, and I want to know more about their crazy parents, families and exes, the female cop, Cary, Megumi and the 2 "drivers" who are more special ops bodyguards extraordinaire than chauffeurs. If Ms. Day had limited this to just 3 books, I think most of us would have lamented that it was all over and would have wanted her to do at least a couple of spin-off series with Gideon and Eva cameos and updates. My only gripe is that I didn't catch the story a few years from now so I could just listen to them all at one time, but that's pretty much always the way it goes. I can't wait to see what she spins for the next books, but I'm kind of hoping for a Magdalena or Megumi/Brett hookup and lots of comeuppance for G's mom, the pediatrician, half-brother and anyone else who needs it.

As for the writer being "greedy," please. I would have paid a credit, and many would have paid retail of $29.95 without a blink AND been happy with more books in the series. Through Audible, this is absolutely worth a credit, though it's cheaper by cash and a total bargain to get the 3 audiobooks for under $30.

OK, the first 30 seconds almost killed it for me, but I gave the story a chance, and I ended up actually liking it. The narrator's voice is SO Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom, that it made me laugh during sex scenes when (in my warped mind) whatever he was saying became something like, "The strength of the cheetah's sinewy thighs are proven essential when it's time to mount his mate ...." The female voice he does is what a guy making fun of women might sound like. In fairness, I blame the publisher, not Mr. Foley, for this mess. He has a great voice, just not for this type of book. I have no doubt that he is FABULOUS in more of a documentary or educational type of book and I sincerely hope that this was his one experiment with female voices and romance and that he has decided against doing so again.....EVER

In spite of that, if you see it on sale, the story itself is actually is an interesting one. I even found myself listening a second time, but I can understand those who gave up early. In cases like these, I try to pretend a well-meaning relative is reading at my sick bed and run the narration through my the-way-it should-sound filter and deal.

Sorry to say it is not worth a credit unless re-recorded with a new reader, but I kind of hope they do just that and release the next books in this Scanguards series because I'd like to know what happens next.
