The selection and editing of these speeches were sometimes disappointing. Some clearly great historical speeches are included -- but I was too frequently baffled by the inclusion of marginal speeches from "left-of-center" political figures. Why do we hear an extended, tiresome speech by Carter on energy policy, yet only a snippet from Reagan's compelling speech on the Cold War several years later? Why so much Clinton, Roosevelt, Lenin, and Robespierre? Also, there is a decidedly American bent to this that may disappoint listeners from other parts of the world.
I would recommend this to anyone interested in learning Spanish or brushing up before a trip. The songs and dialogue are a little cheesy but entertaining and most importantly effective. The words in some of the dialogue and songs are a little hard to hear, and this is probably more effective for someone with a little familiarity with Spanish. Someone starting from scratch should probably use this in conjunction with or after some basic instruction.
This is very useful for someone who has no knowledge or familiarity with Spanish. It is an effective way to learn pronunciation and common phrases to develop familiarity and confidence with the language. This is an excellent way to start learning Spanish.
This is a useful and effective way to learn introductory vocabulary and pronunciation. I found this very helpful and would recomend it to someone who is serious about trying to learn Spanish. You will need to use Levels 2 and 3 to have a practical knowledge of Spanish. Level 1 standing alone is not enough.
I was very pleasantly surprised. King shows a different range in this book. The depth of characters and complex storylines demonstrate King's matrurity and mastery as a writer. This is a long story, with many plotlines and characters, but the characters remained interesting throughout. You really care about what happens to them, and that is what good fiction writing is all about.
Whether or not you agree with their conclusions or motivations, the authors raise important questions about Kerry's four months in Vietnam. Amazingly these questions have been entirely ignored by the mainstream media. Was he a war hero or just a tireless self promoter? I've certainly drawn my own conclusions from this book and other sources. I do not understand the outrage, since this is not any more one-sided or illogical than what Michael Moore and others have put out in this election year.
