This book was the first one that I have ever listened to in this series and now I have to start at 1. I am hooked!!! Where is the unabridged version? This was too short but it was an excellent listen and the narrator was perfect.
First let me state that I know that JM is definitely Harry Dresden. He is why I fell in love witth the series in the firstt place. It is always tricky when a new reader comes in for a new book that has been read uniquely and strongly by another from the beginning of a series.
This book was read by John Glover and I believe he did a great job. His take on the characters was awesome. The voices was distinct for each character and gave each one personailitty and humour. It was annoying in the beginning because I was used to James reading but after accepting the fact its a new reader and after a few paragraphs and I was hooked once again into the book despite the narration change. I thiink John Glover's performance was spot on with Jim Butcher writtiings. And of course this is a Jim Butcher book so you already know how great this book going to be. If you are a die hard fan of this series as I am, you know how Harry is always getting into trouble and ready to hear more about his latest adventures regardless who reads it.
Yes both narrators have their strengths and weakness, but for a subsititue for a great narrator as James Marsters, John Glover did a great job gets a thumbs up from me.
This book has it all. Intrigue, drama, heros, heroines, sword fights, love, betrayal, spies, sex, buffoons, magic and so much more. And best of all a great narrator. Bravo to Roy Dotrice. He allows the characters to come alive and because there are so many characters he is able to give each one their own voice. A rare talent indeed! I got this book during the one credit special and wish the others in this series were for one credit too but this book is sooo worth the 2 credits that Audible charges.
This was an ok book but it started out quite boring. Even thou at the beginning of the book it fast forwarded itself thru a lot facts and data, more could have been left out. This is not the best Dean Koontz book that I have read. It left a whole lot to be desired. There was just too much flashback of each and every character especially toward the end of the book which prolonged the ending by more painful and angonizing minutes. I had to fast forward a lot at the end because of endless flashbacks. But once at the end I was still let down. It could have been better. I give 3 stars for good effort.
This was a great book and wonderful to finally see Peabody lead an investigation. This was a great storyline to read to see how well Eve's aide has turned into a true Detective even thou she finds herself in a life batlle of the good cop vs bad cop. How things can go from very bad to down right insane.
Once again this is an outstanding book by jd robb. I love this entire series and have alwasys been a true fan. I really love the fact that the auther choosed to keep the same narrator for all the in death series which makes it so much better to continue to follow the story line as the powerful, passionate couple of Roake and Eve progress onward. I recommend this book and the whole in death series!
This was a good read. It did start off very slow. A lot of details and spending a lot of time on too much mental stuff. But it all played together well and the ending was quite good. A very good twist that was surprising. The narrator did a very good job also.
Thank you Audible for such a great gift. Happy Holidays to you and to the entire Audible listening family!!!
This was a great book! Sherilyn has done it again! I love and enjoyed the humor and wit of all the characters especially of (believe it or not) Bubba. Could not put book down! Holter Graham should always read all of dark hunters books. He brings each character to life with their own quirks. Great Narrator!!!
This book was predictable. The main character was an airhead and selfish and just plain boring. There was just too much going on and too many loose ends not tied. The ending could have ended so much better.
