Having stumbled upon Chocolat not too long ago and loving that story, I could not resist this sequel and was not disappointed. The character development was thorough and the perspective of each chapter coming from the three main characters worked very well.
The reader did a great job and it really held my interest start to finish.
I think that Ms. Beattie must have considerable clout otherwise I cannot imagine anyone agreeing to this performance. I have tried to listen to this relatively short book twice now and cannot get through it. I can't find out her secret to miracles because it would take a miracle for me to listen to that much droning! Loved her other books and their narrations were just fine.
This book has too many exercises for it to be totally effective as an audio book. The original "Codependency No More" was much more helpful for me. I listen to the original over and over and get something new each time. This one, I think one listen will be enough.
This was so much different than I expected. I had only seen the previews for the movie so I had a preconceived idea of what to expect. This story was well rounded and did an excellent transition during the time span. I totally enjoyed it.
It took me a little while to get used to the narrator but once I did I was amazed at what a great job he did on this story. I had read the book a couple of years ago and thought that it was an okay book, listening to it was so much better. I know that I picked up on a lot of nuance that I missed the first go around. I would recommend this listen to anyone who thinks that it might be up their alley.
It took me a little while to get used to the voice of the reader but once I did I was convinced that she was perfectly cast for this reading. This is a great book and this audiobook version is really enjoyable.
If you even have one drop of Italian blood in you or if you know someone who does. you are going to love this story. The reader does an excellent job of relaying the essence of this fabulous book. I loved it!
Listened to this directly after The Rich Are Different, the story just continued here. It was a very long story and I enjoyed every second. Love Susan Howatch, if you have never read her books, I strongly recommend.
I am a BIG Susan Howatch fan and this one did not disappoint. I listened to this one and followed it directly with Sins of the Father. It was a long trip but I enjoyed every minute. Susan Howatch has a unique style of writing and you really get a great perspective of the main characters. I recommend this one.
If you read the book, if you saw the mini series, this version does it complete justice. I really, truly enjoyed this listen and was disappointed when it was over believe it or not. I recommend it to all.
The use of both young and old readers really did this story justice. It's a great story with very likeable characters. I would recommend this one to anyone.
