Martha Beck is an inspiring Life Coach and a much needed resource in the world of weight loss struggles. Stop setting yourself up for failure - adopting unnatural and unrealistic regimens in order to lose the pounds does not accomplish your real goal. You need to change from the inside out, or there is little chance the change will last your lifetime. Patiently approaching the exercises in this book is laying the ground work for lifelong health. Kudos to an author and motivator who gets it!
I had read the Autobiography many years earlier, but was interested in re-visiting Yogananda's consummate piece. I decided to use a credit so that I could listen to the title while commuting. A better use of a credit I have not made. Ben Kingsley (yes, I knew he'd be good) took this story to a entirely different level. The dialog between different characters, the authenticity of expression, the pacing... his performance is awe-inspiring. If you are interested in an intriguing story of a notable Indian saint, this will not disappoint.
If you are new to Tolle's teachings, I would highly recommend starting with this recording. It lays a lot of foundation for his many other offerings, here on Audible. In this book, he distills the underlying message of the Buddha, as well as Jesus and other important spiritual messengers, into an accessible and current plan of action for the rest of us. Followed with his "A New Earth," this is enough to really affect transformation of consciousness in individuals ready to evolve... so worth the time and the "credit!"
This was the second title I've listened to (from Tolle) and it was the perfect follow up to "A New Earth." I enjoyed the live recording, got a few good laughs from the author's sense of humor, and experienced many "Aha!" moments in which, what I had previously heard in "A New Earth," suddenly clicked on a more personal level.
I find Tolle to be a very gifted extemporaneous speaker. While his book reading, for me, was mesmerizing and life changing, his live performance and teaching method left me just as spellbound. If you're a Tolle fan, this title will not disappoint!
