The story is OK a bit short for this point in the series, but an OK yarn. The bumper music is nice guitars with a good sound makes a nice break between chapters, However the reader has the most annoying accent and reading style I have ever heard. The production is awful as well with pauses so long between chapters you think the down load was faulty. Without doubt the worst audible book I have ever listened to. The rest of the series is read by George Guidall..this book deserves to be re issued with him to enhance the continuity of the series .but anything would be better that this production. Awful awful awful!
A gripping tale wonderfully narrated that tells of the valiant efforts of the young Australians to stop the Japanese advance against Australia and reveals how they were poorly served by their senior commander and grossly underrated that foolish American Emperor Doug out MacArthur. Best story I have listened to this year.
This book is an interesting primer more on Patton's last year and how misused he was by the US military. You can see the seeds cold war of the decades after the WWII are sown by the politicization of the war effort. The perspective is interesting and little know bits are included that explain why Patton's death is so mysterious. However O"Reilly's reading is horrid. Mispronunciations abound and the pacing is horrible. I am sure O'Reilly's contributions to the writing were negligible. A good introduction to this event in history and hopefully is will spark the reader's interest to read more...if O'Reilly's mangled narration does ntoo put them off.
Not a complicated story. The reader has an easy voice to listen to. There are enough sub plots to keep you engaged and interested but the lines are not so layered it requires all your concentration. Good background for a long road trip
Even when they are bit off peak performance the Walt Longmire series are great stories, head and shoulders above most other books published each year. Just like Chinese food, when you are finished with one book you savor and recall the meal, then start looking for the next feast.
Characters continue to develop and the story holds your interest as the Sheriff of Absaroka County sovles another murder in Wyoming
