I am delighted that this book was not as violent as the last one. But neither was it engaging. Some great new characters and some lead-ins to some future events that should be fun. But come on JD, we want less focus on the crime and more of the regulars. They are what we are addicted to and crave. And did anyone else catch the blooper with the button?
A bit slow getting my interest, and the narrators seemed to feel the same, but when the story started to come together it was really good. This book makes you pay attention to detail and try to understand the workings of an unusual mind. I think it will be interesting to see where these characters take us. Go for it!
Held my attention and left me wanting more. Brian Freeman is a talented author and tells a good story. Joe Barrett did a great job narrating too. Worth the effort!
Yes the plot is very obvious from the start, but the story is a good ride because of the characters and description of small town life. I hope Nora will continue this with another book set in the same town - maybe a story about the deputy sheriff brother.
I normally choose mysteries but this was a bit different. Lots of "if I had done things differently" twists plus some solidly interesting characters add up to a good book.
All I really have to say is save your time and your credit. This book is just stupid.
Without a doubt Eve is back on track. Though not as much of some of the supporting cast, there is enough of the main characters to keep me happy. This killer's motive haunts Eve but makes her realize how many friends she has. She continues to grow in putting her past behind her and appreciating the life she has now. I am a happy listener!
What I love about the "First in a Series" sale is just what Audible hopes. I find some great books at a good price and sometimes I get more of the series. This was a good find and I definitely will be getting more of these. Enjoy!
This book will hold your interest but you will find yourself wanting to grab a few of the characters and give them a good shake!
I have to admit I liked the backstory here better than the main storyline. This book is not boring but it is full of sad, damaged characters trying to break free of the past. Not a good choice for the sad or depressed.
Despite narration that sounded like Grumpy Old Men, I stuck with this book until the end. Plot holes abound but it was fairly interesting. The ending destroyed it for me though leaving me wishing I had never purchased this book. Sad.
