Jason Bourne's nemesis Arkadin is still hot on his trail and the two continue their struggle, reversing roles of hunter and hunted. When Bourne is ambushed and badly wounded, he fakes his death and goes into hiding. In safety, he takes on a new identity, and begins a mission to find out who tried to assassinate him. Jason begins to question who he really is, how much of him is tied up in the Bourne identity, and what he would become if that was suddenly taken away from him.

This story is not in keeping with Robert Ludlum's great Bourne series books. The story is confusing, unbelievable characters and generally amateurish. I am sorry I spent the money and time on it.

Once again Michael Crichton gives us his trademark combination of page-turning suspense, cutting-edge technology, and extraordinary research. State of Fear is a superb blend of edge-of-your-seat suspense and thought provoking commentary on how information is manipulated in the modern world.

The book is terrific, but the narrator is very distracting with all his swallowing noises. It sounds as if he's eating or drinking!! I would not want to listen to anything he narrates again!
