Can't say enough great things about this book. First of all, this is one of those books that is better in audiobook. The book is laid out in a question and answer format, which is narrated by two different people and done very well. The content of this book is great for anyone looking to make positive changes in their life or seek happiness. This book gives helpful tips on how to be happy and get the most out of life in ways that seem manageable.
While reading this I wrote down a lot of quotes and put them on my mirror as daily inspiration. One I can remember..."Genuine change doesn't happen over night"
Like I said, great for anyone seeking self improvement, but I also think that if everyone would listen to this book and implement changes into their lives, the world would be a better place.
Starting with you! :)
This is a book most of us read in high school, but I honestly couldn't remember what it was about at all. I saw it on sale and decided to give it a go. It took me a LONG time to get through it, and midway I almost just gave up on it. I am happy I pushed through, because it does pick up farther on.
That being said I wouldn't recommend it to anyone, and this version also has a lot of shrill screachy voices that I didn't care for.
As a huge James Franco fan, I was excited to listen to a book written and narrated by him. It's one thing to follow him on Instagram and love his movies, but to read one of his books was for me to get to know him more personally.
First off, this book jumps from short story to short story, with no transition via audiobook to really know where one starts and another begins. Also many of the stories have so many "different" narrators and points of view and then with James also inserting himself into the "fictional" stories as well. Or that's what it sounded like via audiobook. Still not 100 percent certain.
Although I do think the short stories were compelling, and I do feel that I know James on a deeper level, this book alludes to so many things that were above my head, and it really got way too confusing via audio to keep up on the stories which had 3+ different perspectives happening simultaneously.
Honestly unless you are true true James Franco fan, I don't think you will enjoy this. And if you are a true fan, buy the hard copy!
I love fantasy books, and now as an adult I feel it is harder to find fantasy books that have a new and original idea. This book is definitely something new and intriguing, but I guess it is not exactly a fantasy more like real life with a twist.
Amazing imagery, I gave it four stars though because i feel like the story just dragged on a lot. I can't really put my finger on it, but it's not really a book I would recommend to others.
Still happy I read it!
Second book was just as good for me as the first. Still so many unknowns and twists and turns. Very vivid imagery.
I absolutely love this series! Wow once you start reading you can't stop. I listed to this book for 2 days straight. Really original book idea!
The movie was crap, I wouldn't even waste your time.
I grew up watching lord of the rings! Absolutely love the movies and story.
Since I am such a big reader I'm not sure why it took me so long to read the first book, but so happy I did. These books add layers to the movies, and it is nice to finally know what is actually written. It makes me love the movies even more.
Loved the narrator!!
Wow I had heard about this book for a long time, but all my friends described it as a creepy thriller that would shake you. This seemed too intense for me, but seeing that the movie was coming out soon I decided to give it a go.
So glad a did! This book isn't scary, but very intriguing! Also a really interesting angle!
I have never studied philosophy, but this book seems far from it. This book preached advice that I think I myself could have written without knowing anything about philosophy.
It mainly has dos and don'ts. I listened for 40 minutes, but I felt like I was wasting my time.
Murder on the Nile is a wonderful story, brought to life by David Suchet. I've watched so many of the tv episodes with him, it was wonderful to hear Poirot as I know him.
I am listening to another Poirot story now on audible, with a different narrator, and it just isn't quite the same!
I think as far as I saw this is the only one where he is narrating, so I hope there are more to come!
Joyland was my first Stephen King novel, and I was not disappointed. I have heard his other novels are very scary, so I wasn't sure about this one, but it really wasn't scary at all. I personally fell in love with the protagonist, his character is what makes the story.
I am honestly not even sure exactly what quality this book had that made it come together so well, but I loved it and recommend it!
