Daniel Mackenzie lives up to the reputation of the scandalous Mackenzie family - he has wealth, looks, and talent, and women love him. When he meets Violet Bastien - one of the most famous spiritual mediums in England - he immediately knows two things: that Miss Bastien is a fraud, and that he’s wildly attracted to her.

I love love love Angela Dawe's voice and how well she can do different accents. She makes everything sound so dreamy and creamy. As far as the book goes there was a lot of good action and Ashley always slowly unravels the interesting depths of her characters making you grow into the characters relationship with them. I didn't like this one as much, though. The woman being a lot older than the man killed it for me. She pointed it out so many times I couldn't just let it go and it bothered me the entire time. Other than that it was a good story.

I am not going to give away any of the plot I am just going to tell you it is an easy listen if you want to vegg out. The story was very predictable and it wasn't complicated and it held very little depth. Still, it is a great read when you don't want to think about anything too hard and just enjoy a story. It had a good romance flow and the smut scenes were the perfect amount of sexy and were put in at all the right moments so it didn't become too much. I had a problem with the author, though. She does not changer her voice enough to distinguish which character she is reading for so I was confused as to who was talking half the time. Especially when more than one man is involved in the dialog. Still there was nothing wrong with the book, but if your looking to have your mind blown by a story this one isn't it.

Ok yes when they talk it in old english, but its really not bad and its easy to over look if you want to listen to a really great story besides everything else is described in modern jargon it was easier to read than the Canterbury tales. Every time LK paints a rich picture of human life. There are emotions that are so understandable and she explains them so well you can't help but relate to the characters and fall in love with them. The story also helps convey deeper passion and emotion than the average dime back smut. The reader is also a treat and a total turn on

Adventure and romance!!!!! Oh yes they were in the first 4 to 5 hours of the novel. The tail she spins flows in unexpected ways making for a great story. I was a little disappointed, because the last half of the book was not an adventure romance as portrayed in the synopsis it was basically a custody battle with a few sexual sparking moments. She writes all character feelings so well and you can always feel a connection and relate to all the characters, but having the long drawn out fight over the child spoiled the book for me. The ending and the epic first half of the book were really great and that is what redeemed the book for me. Still, I wished I had picked another of her's books to listen to

Its not an erotic novel, but its so well written you find yourself blushing and intoxicated with every romantic pass in this book. There is humor and real life emotions and the story doesn't use the standard mile markers for a romance, which makes you fall in love with the characters even more. The narrator is also a knock out! I love how he adds more life to the story and sets a perfect pace. Warning, though, his voice is low and rumbly so if you have been on the road all night don't listen to it you might be lulled into sleep.

The story is creative and the main character is plucky and strong willed like in any good romance. The sexual element with all the tension and teasing leading up to that great release was good too. The narrator killed the story, though. She sounds bored and dragged all the words out making even the seductive moments seem like a death sentence. I just couldn't stand listening to it

I am usually more interested in romances with more eroticism in them. This book didn't really have as much sexual tension or any really good sexual moments. It has a really good story line, though. There is a little mystery, interesting back stories that begin in Hawaii, their is a since of justice and I found myself wanted to know more and couldn't stop listening. I loved the reader too, but his voice is a low rumble and I found myself falling asleep to it on many occasions.

I love Jennifer Ashley and all her historical romance novels. She seduces her readers with more than just steamy scenes. she actually incorporates interesting plots and characters with depth. This book is no exception. The back stories to the troubled Elliot makes the lulls between steamy romance scenes much more interesting and Elliot is troubled, but not only that he also has some shocking extra baggage, but Juliana take it in stride and let their love bloom.

Dear Listener, Island Flame is a classic tale of romance on the high seas, featuring two extraordinary characters: the headstrong Lady Catherine Aldley and the legendary pirate Jonathan Hale. No book is more special to me. I was thrilled when it was published, and now, more than thirty years later, I am just as excited to share it again with you. I don’t have to tell you that their tumultuous escapade sizzles with passion (lots of passion!), but what I hope you will take away most from Cathy and Jonathan is that dreams do come true - in love and in life. Mine did, and I hope yours will too.

Rough and passionate with some adventure that's all I wanted when I went in search of a pirate novel and that's what I got, so I am not disappointed. I am going to tell you if your a fair maiden and like slow wooing, sexual tension, the frustrations of a gentleman and true love don't read this book. He is a pirate raping and pillaging is kinda their M.O. She wasn't coddled and he didn't take his time with her. They were both abusive to each other and the plot had some pit falls. I must have missed something, because she somehow she got love to grow out of nothing. It went from raping, rescue to total love. I think her love for him stemmed from Stockholm syndrome which is fairly realistic and probably why most of the women who commented about this book didn't like it. I feel like this book missed a romance novel ingredient and it wasn't the domestic violence that made the novel fall short. Still, it was interesting enough and fallowed a smutty pirate novel formula so I am not complaining.

The first book could stand on its own and I wasn't going to pick up the second one, but I read the first chapter and knew I had to get the next audible, because its not the same unless Vance is reading it. This time, though, the book ended with me needing more! There are so many good twists and the different angles kept me listening and needing to know the new details like a gossip junky.
