This is a really good book, fascinating story with a wonderful narrator. Recommended it highly. I have listened to it twice now. The narrator is just such a joy.

The year is 63 B.C., and Gordianus the Finder unexpectedly achieves the dream of every Roman: a farm in the Etruscan countryside. Vowing to leave behind the corruption of Rome, he abandons the city, taking his family with him. At the same time, Gordianus's longtime patron Cicero has attained the dream of his lifetime: a coveted consulship. Urgently, Cicero requests of Gordianus a favor: his help in keeping watch on a radical populist senator, Catilina.

    "Beware of this narrator"
    Overall

I cannot believe that an author as good as Steven Saylor would allow this narrator to read his books. And, I cannot believe that this narrator has recorded more than one book. How can anybody hire this guy after listening to his narration. I was all set, looking forward to a new Steven Saylor, and then, this ignoramus started. I took the time to look him up so I would remember never to buy another book with him as the narrator.
