Jim McCance did a good job as reader. His deep voice was perfect for the male characters and he also did a good job with the female voices. The story however was superficial, the characters uninteresting. It seemed long & boring. It was a chore to listen to the end. I plan to get my credit returned.
This story seems to have been written for simplistic readers or maybe just by an immature writer. It is full of sentences like: Babe. Babe? or Yeah. Yeah?. Please, tell me who says things like "I am Gwen"s man.". It sounds ridiculous. And I do not know any woman who would have sex with a man for a year without asking his name. Yes I realize this is fiction. Maybe there should be a different classification for these types of stories. Like the YA distinction. I doubt any educated, adult woman would be able to get all the way through this story. It doesn't even work as a mindless beach book. You would spend the whole time thinking "this is do stupid" and being frustrated trying to read through it to see if it gets better. It doesn't...
SPOILER ALERT .......There has to be a fourth book. Don't we ever get to hear how Ethan exposes all his demons to Brin???? This could be a solid "Trilogy" if the first 2 books were combined (the first was too short to be sold as anything but a novella anyway) and the third could complete the story for these 2 characters. It feels like the author left poor Ethan hanging in the breeze.
The first book of this "Trilogy" " Naked" is only 3hours & 55min yet still costs $11.87. When I bought this first audiobook I did not notice how short it was. The second book " All In " is 6 hours,11 min.& also costs $11.87. They both have the same release. These 2 books could easily have been combined. If I would've paid more attention to the length / price I would have paid $5.99 each for the ebook instead. That being said, I really liked the characters / story of all 3.
Although the book was really only average, the was entertaining, original. I was compelled the finish it.
Tired storyline of the handsome vampire and the human destined to be together, but the narration is what really ruined it for me. The intonation between characters was annoying. Who hires these people anyway.
This story offers nothing more than a series of sexual encounters. I wanted to jump ahead of them but was afraid I would miss part of the actual story between Sed & Jessica. As the actual story unfolds it is not believable. Supposedly Jessica has lived through the multiple relationships of her mother, the sexual advances of her stepfather & every other man she comes across, has previously lived the life of Sed's fiancee and lived on the road with him & the band, and has the intelligence to earn a scholorship. Yet we are to believe the response she has to the events at the university? And really, the sexual chemisty between Sed & Jessica is not enough to carry a book. I want my credit back. I will never listen to this story again. And won't be getting the rest of this series.
This is a well written story. There is a smooth development of characters and their individual histories that mold them into the people they have become and the relationship issues they have. There is a tantalizing / humorous / sometimes difficult relationship with sexy banter, leading to explosions of passion that definitely don't require any "50 shades" props. The man alone is all the foreplay a girl needs. The girl has emotional issues to overcome. She is helped along the way by the friends / family she meets through a new roommate & man who get under her carefully built guards. This is a good love story. The only issue I have is with the reader. There are several times when you can not distinguish if the dialog is something the character actually says out loud or is just a thought in her head. I find this irritating, but a common issue with audio renditions. She does a good job with credible accents and the male / female distinction so may readers have a problem with. I highly recommend this book.
