    Story

The story itself was pretty good, the writing was a bit crappy -- she needed to hang around with REAL cops or do more research to learn how to talk tough. Most of the police interaction wasn't even close to realistic but the story was amusing. Her leaping back & forward was ackwardly put, it wasn't clear exactly where you went for a paragraph or two. Expecially on the Taylor parts.

The narrators needed to be more balanced. Renee delivered her usual great performance - Paul was too lackluster and tended to make his portion drag.

In a moment of recklessness, Gervase Tregarth, sixth Earl of Crowhurst, swears he’ll marry the next eligible lady to cross his path. Cloistered at his ancestral castle in Cornwall, with nary a suitable woman for miles, he never expects he’ll have to fulfill his pledge, at least not until the London season begins. But then he meets his neighbor, the very appealing Madeline Gascoigne.

Years of secret service to the Crown have taught Gervase the value of always having a loophole - there will be no wedding if he and Madeline are not compatible in every way.

    Story

The narrators voice somehow didn't fit the story -- a bit too light/friendly -- something. And I really didn't like his portrayals of female voices. His voice continuously made me think of "The Grinch that stole Christmas" video or a Dr. Suess story, so I spent a few hours just trying to get with the story.

Eve Duncan’s mission in life is to bring closure to the families who have experienced the agony of a missing child. As a forensic sculptor, she is able to piece together bones, create a face, and match a name to a child who would have otherwise gone unidentified. Eve is brilliant, driven, and tormented - because her own daughter, Bonnie, was taken from her years ago. Now, with the help of CIA agent Catherine Ling, a startling piece of evidence is uncovered in the quest to find Bonnie, leading to a connection that had been all but buried....

The overall story is very good as usual for this series, however, the books seem to be shorter and shorter as if to prolong it. After listening to this one, I just bought the paper books 2nd hand. I've read the books of Eve, Bonnie, etc. and the last three could have been combined to make a fantastic book.

I don't really have a favorite character, their individual stories are usually fast paced and interesting. I'd just like to have more in each book.

    Just a thought . . .

One of the most popular suspense novels of all time. A well-dressed man stalks the high-class neighborhoods of New York City. He is armed with an ice axe. His victims are strangers. And one cop, Captain Ed Delaney must solve a series of bizarre, gruesome murders that defy logic or method. This shocking story has captured the imaginations of millions like no other modern thriller.

What disappointed you about The First Deadly Sin?

For 2-1/2 hours I listened to discriptions of furniture, scenery, etc. that droned on and on.

What was most disappointing about Lawrence Sanders’s story?

Most disappointing was that after 2-1/2 hours I didn't know WHERE the story was going, on if it WAS going anywhere.

Would you be willing to try another one of Marc Vietor’s performances?

His performance was alright, but the combination of him and NO story was too much.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Utter disappointment - I was glad I didn't pay full price for this book. After the first hour I kept telling myself, if I just listened a little longer it would get better. After 2-1/2 hours it didn't get better. Boooooo
