In the latest installment of Mark Tufo's zombie fallout series, Mike Talbot and his family continue their fight for survival as Eliza plots their demise.

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

Although I'm a huge fan of Mark Tufo and this this book series, I'm extremely disappointed with Zombie Fallout 5. It felt like a rushed story with no substance and very little plot. There was a good two hours of flashback stories told that provided no benefit to the story and, frankly, felt like filler. I found myself fast forwarding through much of those portions which is a first. I hope Mark spends a little more time developing a good story for book 6 and doesn't let his publisher rush the process which I'm hoping was the reason this book fell flat.

Has Zombie Fallout 5 turned you off from other books in this genre?

No... Although book 5 was a complete waste of time with very little story, I'm still looking forward to the continuation of the story line. As long as it gets back on track. If book 6 is as empty as book 5, I probably won't go for book 7.

Which character – as performed by Sean Runnette – was your favorite?

Of course... Michael Talbot. His perfect sarcastic inflection is, as always, great.

In your hands is the handwritten journal depicting one man's struggle for survival. Trapped in the midst of global disaster, he must make decisions; choices that ultimately mean life, or the eternal curse to walk as one of them. Enter, if you will, into the world of the undead.

It was a little tough to get into the journal 1st person style, but got into it after a couple of chapters. Waaaaay better than the last one I bought... Omega Days... Ugh! I will definitely continue with the series.

Whispering Pines is a classic, quiet, private American subdivision on the edge of Asheville, NC, set in the pristine Blue Ridge Mountains. Which is good since the zombie apocalypse has come to Western North Carolina and really put suburban living to the test! Surrounded by a sea of the undead, the residents of Whispering Pines have adapted their bucolic life of block parties to scavenging parties, common area groundskeeping to immediate area warfare, neighborhood beautification to neighborhood fortification.

I really wanted to like it but just couldn't. The narration was so bad it took a mediocre story and made it an almost painful listen. If you want a better story with excellent narration, stick with Tufo.

Darius Cobb wasn't thinking of man's extinction. He honestly never gave it a thought. A college professor and part time country singer, Darius worried only about teaching and playing his guitar until the day he is attacked by cockroaches and is placed into a special government quarantine. There, he and the others start piecing together the inevitable. Using his knowledge, he begins predicting the events that unfold. Together he and his group plan and then implement a long term survival plan.

The narration was so bad that it was almost comical. I can't believe I listened to the whole audio book. I kept thinking, wrongly, that it had to get better. Don't waste the credit or the time.
