Love the characters their loyalty to each other. I also enjoy how Brett Battles incorporates new people to keep the stories fresh. Nate's injuries and survival are getting a little far-fetched, so it is probably time to focus on a different character. Some surprises at the end leave me compelled to download the next book in the series.
As always, Scott Brick's performance is terrific.
Absolutely. Will listen to the whole series in order in about six months or a year. This is fun read.
Yes!! I was up WAY too late because I couldn't put the book down.
This is one of my favorite Julie Garwood books. The dialogue is great as are the characters. I always appreciate the strong women and loyal, rugged men!!! I think I have an addiction to her Highlander books. Really glad I found this series and strongly recommend. You can get a book list on her website to see the order to the books are written in. All are good individually, but they are even more fun in order.
Maybe. The plot is good and the characters are strong, but the narration distracts from the story. Her Louisiana accents are grating.
I think I would have enjoyed it on the Kindle because the Louisiana accent was so distracting took away from the story. I would recommend the book, but probably not the audio version.
This book is good, but even better if you listen to "The Secret" first.
There is a lot going on at the beginning of the book so it gets a little confusing. If you can stick with it, the story and characters are addicting and will leave you wanting more. The interactions between the main characters are fun, witty and heart-warming. I had a hard time putting the book down and found myself laughing often. My only disappointment was that the secondary love story was underdeveloped and I wish JG would have saved the story for another great book. I have really enjoyed this series.
I loved this book. I had not read a medieval romance in a while and could not put this book down. Definitely worth the credit and compelled me to get the next book in the series. I will definitely listen to this one again. Strongly recommend.
This book is thought provoking and I like the premise and the perspective it offers. I think it would be far better on a Kindle where I could highlight key concepts and things I would like to remember. I kept finding myself rewinding and re-listening to parts because I wanted to get the point of what he was saying and apply it to how I think or perceive the world. I just felt unfulfilled when the book was done, like having an in-depth discussion without a conclusion or obvious points I could easily apply. Again, I blame it partially on audio format. This book requires a little deeper thought and consideration. I am trying to decide if it is worth purchasing on the Kindle, but I understand the broad perspective and would be paying for a couple key concepts and illustrations that I found particularly valuable.
Oddly unsatisfying. Maybe I just didn't focus enough. If you have an issue with feeling happy or positive (which I do at times) I think its a good read; just not life-altering, but it does give one some insight.
I didn't have any expectations for this book and found it difficult to make it through the first couple chapters. Once I listened to more, the storyline was intriguing but I felt like it fell a little flat at the end. I like the main characters, and the storyline and the book gives insight to how real people feel and interpret the world around them. Something is lacking for me as it is almost two stories that are meant to merge, but the book stops short. If you can personally identity with the main characters, the book might be more satisfying for you than it was for me.
Truly enjoyed the series and I listened to them close together. I disagree with the person who said the 3rd book repeated too much information from earlier books. I thought the continuing plot was fresh, well written and the background information filled in any gaps. I am not typically drawn to books with a mystical flair, but I would definitely listen to more of Maria Snyder's books. A pleasant distraction from my normal mystery, thrillers etc... Great storyline. I am surprised it isn't a movie or if it has been, I missed it and I would have enjoyed it. I had a hard time putting the books down. Poison Study is still my favorite in the series, but Fire Study is a close second. Read and enjoy.
I love this series and Susan Erickson is an awesome narrator as she makes these books a lot of fun by capturing the personalities of the characters. This is a good book, but not the place to start if you have never read an Eve Dallas book. Some of the earlier books are more riveting. Work your way through part of the series and you will enjoy this one too.
The story line was intriguing and the book did not disappoint. Well written, compelling with a little bit of fantasy. Not my normal read, but finishing it left me ready to read the other two books in the series.
Other reviewers are right -- this is NOT a Haliquen "Romance" so don't let the Publisher dissuade you from reading. If you find the summary interesting, I think you will love the book.
