Jack is an author who was on his way to literary success when his life was blown apart by the horrific suicide of his fiancee. Devastated, Jack went on a fifteen-month alcoholic spiral into near oblivion before eventually working past his demons and becoming best-selling crime novelist. Just as Jack is finishing his fourth book, the LAPD interrupts his routine with news of what appears to be a copycat murder from his first book. There's just one problem - the murder took place before Jack's book was published.

What would have made Killer better?

I think the transition from the past to the present could have been smoother. Too many characters to keep in your mind and difficult to follow for me. The story has some very unexpected twists, but you must concentrate on where in time you are.

What do you think your next listen will be?

    A grey man series

What three words best describe Noah Michael Levine’s performance?

Noah tries very hard to create the different voices of the many characters. A very difficult job and I think he does the best possible.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

I think in one word disappointment. The book was too hard for me to follow.

From politics to the personal, from fashion to food, from the campus to the locker room, the desire to be cool has infected all aspects of our lives. At its most harmless, it is annoying. At its worst, it is deadly, on a massive scale. The Cool are the termites of life, infiltrating every nook and cranny and destroying it from within. The Cool report the news, write the scripts, teach our children, run our government - and each day they pass judgment on those who don’t worship their coolness.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes , if you are a fan of the 5 or Red Eye. Greg is handcuffed on the TV media, but does he let it fly in this book - There are parts I have listened to 3-4 times. What he is saying not only is humorous but makes one think. How thinks changed in the 50's when everyone wanted to be "cool" . A very diverse way of looking at society from people wanting to be connected with the "cool" group. If you grow up in the 50's - 60's a must read.

What did you like best about this story?

The Psychology of what people will do to be part of a "cool" group. It is a funny book , but the book makes you think - WOW I never thought of it that way. The theme is carried right to the current day.

    Which scene was your favorite?

I think it came in the beginning of the book and then I was hooked. The comparison of a new H.S. student walking into a H. S.hallway and he compare the lockers to apartments. - Interesting.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I don't think there was a moment that moved me, but I was surprised how current today's world events were attached to the "cool"idea. He made connections to today's world leaders, make one scratch their head.

    Any additional comments?

This is one book I will listen to again.

Where does The Hit rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

The hit is definitely in the top 5. This is movie material

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

All the time , since the intrigue was connected but also diverse. The addition of sound kept me on my toes especially after walking and listening, shots were fired and I jumped.

What does Ron McLarty and Orlagh Cassidy bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Great range and types of voices that are consistent with the character. Add their voices and sound and you have a great book to listen .This you would have to imagine if just reading .

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Funny, i said this should be a movie earlier, and did not realize this question would be asked. I would have to say "friends are friends ?"

    Any additional comments?

I have several of David Baldacci's books and they are all great. Has any of his books been made into a movie or TV series. Someone is missing out.

What disappointed you about Tom Clancy Support and Defend?

I saw Mark Greaney, Grey Man, and thought it would a good book. First time with
Tom Clancy, and it will be a long time again

What could Mark Greaney have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

I can't believe he was the author. Not his style at all as far as I am concerned.

Would you be willing to try another one of Scott Brick’s performances?

Really disappointed - would have to be with a friends recommendation

What character would you cut from Tom Clancy Support and Defend?

This was just a boring book for me. No character stood out .

    Any additional comments?

    Just a major disappointment

People that are invoked with social services and can read aot what Daniel is doing . I found long and boring

More action outside the "social circle" Beat part was the last 11/2 hours

Where does Spy rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Spy ranks in the top 5. What insight to the future Hawke had.

What other book might you compare Spy to and why?

The Grey man series, Absolute power, and Ballistic. This was different because of our current problems on the southern border, acknowledged 7 years ago. Regarding today's problems , this was realistic.

Which character – as performed by John Shea – was your favorite?

John Shea is excellent in his wide range of voices , dialects and male , female differences. Very hard to pick one.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, however there is a thing called life and luckily there are a few areas that are convenient to stop. For instance, moving from the Amazon to Washington D.C.

    Any additional comments?

I find it scary that Alex Hawke saw 7 years ago the immigration problem on our southern borders and the open gate for ALL to enter. The training ground for terrorist under the canopy of the Amazon jungle and a connection to Bin Laden was realistic and could be happening today. Robotic 18 wheelers, tanks, and paper thin explosives added to it being today's world. Great Job Alex Hawke !

The Spandau Diary -- what was in it? Why did the secret intelligence agencies of every major power want it? Why was a brave and beautiful woman kidnapped to get it? Why did a chain of deception and violent death lash out across the globe, from survivors of the Nazi past to warriors in this new conflict about to explode? Why did the world's entire history of World War II have to be rewritten as the future hung over a nightmare abyss?

Would you listen to Spandau Phoenix again? Why?

Probably no - It is a long book , interesting, but too long

What other book might you compare Spandau Phoenix to and why?

I feel this book is unique unto itself. The book follows the mystery of Hess flight to England and his escape to South Africa. Hess's reason for his "escape" to England and the potential over through of England to prevent a war in the East and West was the mission. As a student of that time period , fascinating.

Have you listened to any of Dick Hill’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

    No

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The conversations between Hitler and Hess and the planning of the trip was of interest. Hitler trusted Hess the most and the insight of his distrust of his other leaders was I think key. the book gave a behind the scenes view of the think of the Nazi leadership.

    Any additional comments?

There are many theories of why Hess flew to England and most people thought he was captured and died in prison. That was his double . I behind the scenes look at intrigue of a important time in history.

The addition of sound effects, suspense music and 2 voices

What did you like best about this story?

A series of separate assignments by N. Korea and the U.S. that led to final assignment that brought the assassins face to face. What an ending. I could not stop the book for the last 4 hours. One of the best books in 3 years/

Have you listened to any of Ron McLarty and Orlagh Cassidy ’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

The book was so written that the performance held you captivated in which each assignment was a suspense thriller in it self. Amazing ending.

This is the first book I listened written by the author, I don't know how he could write one better. He is on my best read list.

Hailey Cain has a history of testing the limits of her fate: as a fearless bike messenger on the twisted, competitive streets of San Francisco; as a young female cadet in a sea of men at West Point. But Hailey also has secrets — the biggest of which led her to leave the academy just two months short of graduation, two months away from becoming a lieutenant in the U.S. Army.

What disappointed you about Hailey's War?

The narrator was bland and not emotional. I got very tired with almost every sentence " I said" or "she said" or "they said" very distracting and annoying. The plot was good but the author should examine the use of describing who is speaking. I have never read or heard a book written this way.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Hailey, she took on a mission and was determined to see it thorough , whether in the US or Mexico. The plot was very good

What didn’t you like about Angela Dawe’s performance?

As stated earlier no emotion and limited number of voices - hard to tell if man or woman. Angela, during an exciting time, did not seem excited.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Disappointment. Title and notes made me think it was a good plot but i struggled after the first 3 chapters.

    Any additional comments?

This is a good book , but not for the price. Maybe of value waiting in the doctor's office.

Hundreds of thousands of devotees will cheer the return of Joe Leaphorn and Jim Chee. The Navajo policemen, are brought together by the death of a man on Ship Rock, almost 1700 feet above the desert floor. The fallen man had sprawled on the ledge under the peak of Ship Rock mountain for eleven years - visited only by the ravens who had picked his bones bare and scattered his rock-climbing gear. Through the memory of those who had known him, emerges an understanding of the fallen man, who had been given everything and found it was not enough.

The book presented modern day excitement of detective work on an Indian reservation. A well paced story about old style detective work and new. The story made sense and was easy to follow.

What about Christian Baskous’s performance did you like?

Christain has a good ability to change his voice from male, female, Indian and a person form the east coast.
